Fuel Lights The Commission Up With His Unexpected Return

Fuel Lights The Commission Up With His Unexpected Return

Posted: Aug 11th 2010 By: CMBurnham

At the beginning of June, UWE fans were given a tremendous scare when it appeared that popular superstar Fuel was going to be out of action for the remainder of 2010...assuming he would ever return to the ring again.

On June 5, Fuel competed in a No DQ match against Mr. Ooh, La, La. But it would be Brett Taylor who delivered the devestating blow to Fuel's career. Seeking revenge after losing to Fuel at the inaugural UWE event in a Loser Leaves the Company match, Taylor ran in and gave Fuel a piledriver, a move that is illegal in UWE. But since the match was being contested under the No DQ stipulation, the referee could do nothing but count the pinfall after Taylor delivered the deciding blow.

Fuel was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital and a few days later, UWE released an official statement regarding his condition. According to that statement, Fuel had suffered a Grade IIIIA concusion and stinger. The piledriver had caused the brain and skull to collide. The good news was that Fuel would not require surgery, but according to doctors' estimates, he would be out ofr 6 months to a year doing physical rehabilitation and any further injury could potentially cause paralysis.

Taylor was fined $10 000 for his actions, but could not be fired or further disciplined due to the No DQ stipulation. But he had succeeded in what he wanted. Just as Fuel had eliminated Taylor from UWE, Taylor had now done the same for Fuel. And while bragging rights were fun, Taylor had more in mind.

Part of Taylor's further activities stemmed from his forming an alliance with Ray Martinez, UWE commissioner Brittany Foxx & UWE Champion Jon Cross. Together, they dubbed themselves The Commission. And at the end of July's event, they would add one more member to their roster as Tyson Armstrong turned on Brandon Walker, costing him the UWE Title and aligning himself with the Commission as well. But the humiliation of Fuel was continued when the Commission brought out Robbie Awesome, dressed as Fuel (complete with fake wig) and called him "Fuel". This Phony Fuel was entered into the Sooner Stampede, with the winner earning a shot at the UWE Title. Taylor stood triumphant at the end of this match...or so he thought until the arrival of Big Smooth brought a look of complete shock to Taylor's face. The Commission thought they had prevented Smooth from participating in the match, but that wasn't true and Taylor had nowhere the hide as Smooth entered the ring, picked Taylor up and threw him over the top rope onto his fellow Commission members.

At the Fan Appreciation event on August 7, Fuel was announced as making his return that night. But that all proved to be a ruse as once again it was Robbie Awesome coming out. Despite the protests of the UWE announce team, Awesome swore that he was actually Fuel and told Brett Taylor that he had a big announcement. He had come to terms that he would never be as good as Brett, so he was officially announcing his retirement. Brett came out and said it was about time that Fuel did that. The problem was that it left the fans in Tahlequah without a hero. So he wanted Fuel to tell them he was passing that torch to Brett. At that point, the lights went out and on the video screen a message appeared that simply said "What doesn't kill you makes you more strong". The lights then came back on and while Taylor and Awesome were confused, it didn't stop them from "passing the torch" to the cacophony of fans' disapproval.

When it came time for the main event, the Commission strode purposely and confidently to the ring. Jon Cross & Tyson Armstrong along with the injured Ray Martinez stepped into the ring, followed by Robbie Awesome. Martinez announced that he was allowing Awesome to take his place in the 6-man tag team match tonight AND that there was a special referee. That turned out to be Brittany Foxx and the fans certainly had reason to believe that there was no way justice could prevail in this situation. But that wasn't going to stop the opposing side from trying and that side was made up of Brandon Walker, Anarchy 2nd & Big Smooth, whose reception blew the roof off the building when he stepped through the entranceway.

Sadly, the shenanigans of the UWE commissioner proved to be just as bad as people thought as she would frequently ignore blatant rule infractions by her associates while being quick to enforce the letter of the law on Team Smooth. In the end, Brett Taylor brought a chair out and handed it to Jon Cross, who had climbed to the top rope. Cross hit Anarchy 2nd twice with the chair and then laid non-chalantly on him while Brittany counted the pin. Then, to add insult to injury, the newly hired Commission Security force (made up of Kyle Everlast, Justin Sane and Khaos) hit the ring and a gang-style beating commenced on Team Smooth...until once again the lights went out. And this time, when they came back on, Fuel was standing in the ring. With the pent up rage of two months' worth of inaction, Fuel disposed of the security team, but wasn't able to get his hands on any of the Commission members as they had quickly scooted out of the ring as soon as they saw the returned superstar in their midst.

Fuel grabbed the microphone and said that he had some very special matchups lined up for September's event. Everyone knew that Big Smooth would get a UWE title shot against Jonathon Cross, but in addition to that, Brandon Walker would have a chance to get revenge on Tyson Armstrong, Anarchy 2nd would face Ray Martinez (who had blamed Anarchy 2nd for his separated shoulder) and, most importantly, Fuel demanded that Brett Taylor face him one-on-one in the ring next month. None of the Commission were happy with this result, but unless Brittany Foxx can find some legal way to prevent it from happening, those matches will happen.

The only question remaining is the exact condition of Fuel's neck. With a diagnosis of 6 months minimum of rehab, Fuel is trying to return to action with only half that. Is he jumping the gun? And more importantly, is he properly prepared to deal with the actions and interference that is almost sure to come from the Commission? Fuel has never backed down from a challenge before, so hopefully he's not being foolhardy here. He'll bring everything he has to gain some revenge. And if he succeeds, the fans should enjoy every minute of it.
