Wrestler Jerry Lawler sues over trademark

Professional wrestler Jerry Lawler has filed suit against Corey Maclin, the Democratic candidate for county clerk, in a dispute over the ?Memphis Wrestling? trademark.
The handwritten document filed Friday in Shelby County General Sessions Court says Jerry Lawler is suing for: ?Mr. Corey Maclin?s direct actions that fraudulently conveyed upon Jerry Lawler?s trademark and copyright interest ?Memphis Wrestling? in the intangible product.?
An exhibit with more detail wasn?t available to The Commercial Appeal Friday afternoon, and Lawler wasn?t immediately available by phone.
Maclin says his company ran the wrestling shows for years and that he employed Lawler, but that he?s cut ties with the program.
He says Lawler is supporting his opponent in the Aug. 5 election, Republican Wayne Mashburn, and that the suit is politically motivated.
