Jermaine Johnson: Simply Disgusting

Jermaine Johnson: Simply Disgusting

Posted: May 23rd 2010 By: CMBurnham

2 years ago, he was voted Oklafan's Most Popular Wrestler of the Year. Now, fans can't stand the sight of him.

Jermaine Johnson has never let anything stand in his way. A skilled tag team wrestler, he won 4 IZW Tag Team Titles with Montego Seeka and last year, BLK-OUT was acknowledged as the best Tag Team in Oklahoma by winning Tag Team of the Year in the Oklafan Year End awards.

That partnership ended last Saturday when Johnson was appointed as a special referee in the main event pitting Aaron Neil against Seeka. The fans were sure that this was going to be a fair event, but as Montego had Aaron down and out, Johnson counted 1..2...and then stopped. And then the unthinkable happened as Johnson turned on his friend, attacking him and allowing Neil to pick up the win.

The victory wasn't the real story. The story involved the moment when the fans realised that their hero was gone. And, as it was described by those who were there, that moment could best be summed up in the two words the fans were thinking: "Oh Shit!"

But the fans in Lawton might have expected this to happen if they'd been paying attention to the events in Midwest City, where Johnson has been a member of Impact, Inc. for about a year. Together with Bernie D and MSWA Mid-South Champion Johnny Z, Johnson has reigned terror on MSWA. A 5 1/2 month reign as MSWA Oklahoma Champion gave some leverage to the group, but when Johnny beat Aaron for the Heavyweight Title, things really began to get out of hand. For a brief time, Johnny & Jermaine both held singles gold, until Kevin Morgan won the Oklahoma Title at the beginning of March. Since that time, Johnson's focus hasn't been on the Oklahoma Title or even the vacant MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Titles. It's been on something he can't seem to gain: NWA-OK Oklahoma Women's Champion La Reina de Corazones.

In recent weeks, Johnson has taken to calling himself the "Mid-South Sex Symbol" and bringing a slinky teddie to the ring with him. He makes no secret about his fantasies for La Reina and also doesn't try to hide his desires, freely admitting that he's "nasty" and heavily insinuating what he would like to do with the female competitor. These actions brought him to the attention of La Reina's friend Dustin Daniels and on May 2nd, Daniels confronted both Jermaine & Bernie in the ring, defending the honour of La Reina. The numbers were too much for Dustin until Randy Price came to his assistance and the main event for the afternoon was set. That contest didn't go in the way that Impact, Inc. would have liked as Kendall Hayes slipped Bernie D a chain. Bernie went to hit Randy, who was being held by Jermaine, but Randy ducked and Bernie knocked Jermaine out. Daniels then hit a springboard elbow on Johnson to gain the win.

Either Jermaine & Bernie lied to their boss about what happened the previous week or Johnny chose not to believe them. Whatever the case, Impact, Inc. stood proud in the ring at the beginning of this past Sunday's event. Again, Jermaine continued to call for La Reina to join him in the ring Sunday and also picked on some of the larger members of the audience, saying they were "banned from the concession area". Johnny Z then perpetrated this huge fraud by trying to pass off Bernie D as the Midnite Rider and granting him the 1st shot at the MSWA Title. The fans wanted Aaron Neil to have a shot, but Johnny said that wasn't going to happen. After bringing Bernie out dressed as the Rider (and claiming that Bernie was actually at a banquet for the Oklahoma Association of Jewish Athletes), Milton Winkelman threw a wrench in the works by saying that Bernie was booked that afternoon in a match against Tyson Jaymes. This upset the "Rider", but Johnny & Jermaine worked to calm him down. And then the distinctive music of the "Real Deal" hit and Aaron Neil made his first appearance in MSWA since being beaten up by Impact, Inc. two weeks after losing the MSWA Title. Aaron demanded a match and said that since Johnny was "busy" later that evening and Bernie was "not there", that only left one member of Impact, Inc. for him: Jermaine Johnson

Johnson wanted nothing to do with Aaron and repeatedly stalled during the match. He ran and cried foul and tried to use Johnny, the "Midnite Rider" and Impact, Inc. security at ringside. But nothing seemed to help him. Eventually, Aaron put Jermaine down for a pin, but Johnny reached in the ring and stopped referee Bill Decker's hand from dropping for the 3rd time. Aaron then dragged Johnny into the ring, gave him a spinebuster and applied a figure-4 leglock. Jermaine tried to help his boss, but Aaron cradled him into a pin at the same time. But Decker could only make a two count. The Midnite Rider then joined the fray. Johnny grabbed Aaron and held him for Bernie to punch, but Aaron ducked and Johnny was knocked out of the ring, Aaron then threw the Rider outside as well.

Then, out of nowhere, La Reina de Corazones, appeared at ringside. Johnson completely ignored his opponent and began to put the moves on her. But he quickly returned attention to Neil and, while bragging to La Reina, went to springboard off the top rope. La Reina pushed him off, causing him to slip onto the top turnbuckle. Aaron then hoisted Johnson on his shoulders and brought him down in a Death Valley Driver, finally gaining the win in another Match of the Year contender.

But La Reina wasn't done with Johnson yet. Encouraged by Aaron, she boldly walked over to the fallen star and kicked him square in the groin, then slapped him hard across the face, much to the crowd's rejocing.

Johnson would recover enough to be at ringside for Johnny Z's "Title match" against the Midnite Rider, which would ultimately backfire as the Rider would be revealed to be Aaron Neil after Bernie D came hopping out of the back with his wrists & mouth ducktaped together. And even though Johnson was completely humiliated he made his presence known during Dustin Daniels' match against Chad Thomas, costing Daniels that match. Johnson was right back to his old tricks, going so far as to stalk La Reina into the corner, but never making any actual physical contact before leaving the ring.

Johnson's sick obsession with La Reina hasn't impeded his competitive performance in the ring. But might his mental preoccupation lead to something worse in the future? Like Johson, La Reina obviously has backup. And while it's completely illegal according to the Oklahoma Athletic Commission rules for La Reina to engage in a match with Johnson, that doesn't seem to stop him from doing everything he can to intimidate her. Johnson's obviously aware that he can't win La Reina on his own accord. What he'll do next to take her by force is anyone's guess.
