Current And Former Champions Fend Off Veteran Challengers

Since its inception, the 412PE Title has been the personal bickering item in a war between veteran wrestler Running Wolf and newcomer Michael H. The title bounced back and forth between the two men and stipulations were invoked on multiple occasions, including H?s most recent win where he forced Wolf to wear a diaper due to losing the match. But last month, Michael H?s grasp on the title was severed and a new champion crowned in the form of ?The Native Outlaw? Tex. Tex and Wolf have been at each other throats over the past few months as well and the 412PE Title simply sits as the crown jewel in their feud.
At the 412PE event in Marble City in March, Michael H was stripped of the title when it was announced that he had taken a booking at another event which was being filmed for TV, rather than fulfill a contractual title defence. The empty title was filled at the end of the night with Running Wolf and Tex facing off against each other and Tex coming out victorious. But Wolf wasn?t done with the diminutive champion and this past Saturday in Greasy, OK, Wolf once again challenged for the belt. Wolf hoped that his veteran instincts and cunning tactics would outsmart the young champion, but that didn?t prove to be the case. After a hard fought battle, Tex was able to connect with his version of the 619, then climbed to the top rope and launched into a cross body-block, landing on Wolf and scoring the victory. But that was only the beginning of the main event segment for the night.
At ringside during the entire event that night had been ?The Wild Samoan? Keno, who had been trading verbal insults with referee Red River Jack 2nd and who also went out of his way to call Tex a ?paper champion?. Keno held the belt during the championship match, but when Tex scored the win, Keno entered the ring and said that apparently he had been wrong. The champion had shown him that he was a worthy title holder and he offered his hand to Tex to seal the rift between them. Tex extended his hand to Keno?s, but before grasping the Samoan?s hand, he turned to the audience and asked what their opinion was. Unanimously, they encouraged Tex not to trust Keno. And they were right. After Tex withdrew his hand, Keno sucker punched the champion and began a beat down in the middle of the ring until Michael H came to his rescue. H, who had lost to Lee Cook earlier in the card, was prepared to take on Keno himself, but Keno had other ideas. Surprisingly, those plans involved him facing both Michael H AND Tex in a Handicap match. The former and current 412PE Champions agreed and the match was on. But just as it was about to begin, Running Wolf (who had left the ring area after his defeat) returned and turned the match into an impromptu tag team affair.
The match itself was not particularly long or noteworthy. Keno and Michael H started out, but Keno quickly threw H to Running Wolf, who neutralized him from the outside while Keno focused on Tex. Tex rallied and hit the 619 on Keno, which prompted him to abandon the match and return to his seat on the outside. Meanwhile, Tex once again set up Running Wolf in a pinning predicament and scored his second pin of the night over the veteran performer.
Thoroughly embarrassed and humiliated, Running Wolf took his pent up anger out on the nearest target after the match. He attacked Red River Jack 2nd, pummeling the referee in the middle of the ring, then grabbing one of the folding chairs from ringside and placing Jack?s leg in it, stomping on it and causing an unknown level of injury before many of the popular wrestlers came from the back to save the official. Presumably Running Wolf will be fined for his actions, although that was not announced at the show. More importantly, Wolf?s status as the #1 contender to the 412PE Title seems to be in jeopardy. Two back-to-back losses to the champion certainly makes it seem like Wolf has had his opportunities and other top contenders should be given theirs. But with a seeming alliance between the current champion and the former champion, who else is deserving of receiving a title shot? Perhaps Lee Cook, who did score a pinfall victory over the former champion on this card. Or perhaps some new talent will be arriving in 412PE soon to make a challenge for the belt. No matter who it ends up being, Tex will have his hands full, but that?s the way he expects things when it comes to the top singles championship in the federation.
