Boss Campbell Rings In New Year In Championship Style

Boss Campbell may not get a tremendous amount of respect due to his ringside actions, but people cannot say that he isn't successful. So far in his ComPro career, he's guided men to every title except the Heavyweight Championship. And the past two shows have not only been good for his charges, but Boss was able to add a title reign (albeit an extremely brief one) to his career history.

The Popped Collar Posse had certainly racked up some impressive credentials, but when the last Night of Champions rolled around, Boss could only lay claim to controlling the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title. And even that slipped from his grasp as champion Goldeneye had a broken ankle and was unable to participate in his scheduled Triple Threat Elimination title defence against The Canadian Luchadore and Sage. The Luchadore didn't believe this was true, accusing Goldeneye of dodging the match. Boss suggested that the match be postponed until summer. ComPro owner Mike Two nipped that idea in the bud, saying that, as owner, he had the ability to control the titles. Since Goldeneye was unable to wrestle, he was officially stripped of the title. But, since the fans were expecting a Triple Threat match, they were still going to get one. And Boss Campbell was declared the new ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion! Boss was ecstatic and grabbed the belt, clutching it like it was precious child. But his reign would be decidedly short lived, as Mike Two declared that the title defence would happen immediately and Boss found himself quickly double teamed by Sage and the Luchadore, double Schoolboyed and pinned, ending his brief ascension to the top of the X Division ladder.

Stripped of all championship holdings, Boss was more determined than ever to capitalise on the ComPro Tag Team Title shot he got after intermission. Crazy Beautiful finally received a rematch that they had never gotten since losing the belts back in July. But fate again seemed to be destined to intervene, as Justin Lee arrived unannounced. He said that Brett Taylor had cost him a shot at the ComPro Title by eliminating him during the Oklahoma Stampede and demanded that they have a one-on-one match right then. Again, Mike Two arrived and said that the Taylor/Lee match wouldn't be happening at that moment. Brett accused Mike of protecting Justin, but Justin said it was okay and things would happen soon enough. Then, out of nowhere, he blasted Taylor with a Superkick, knocking him senseless before leaving the ring. Taylor had to be helped from the ring and Mike Two told Michael York that if he could find a partner, he could still challenge for the belts. Otherwise, the match would have to be postponed. Several fans suggested that Boss Campbell be York's partner, but Boss refused, saying he'd already competed once that night. Instead, York brought out TAP Champion Reckless, whom he had successfully tagged with the previous week. This makeshift team then prepared to face off against the ComPro tag team champions Dawn of Extreme. The switchup in teams left the young champions without a cohesive strategy, as York and Reckless had obviously gained some insight into DOX's strengths and weaknesses, but DOX didn't have the same luxury. The end of the match came surprisingly quickly and there were new tag team champions, once again making Boss happy to have gold under his control again.

The celebration wasn't over for Boss, even though 2009 was. The "Brookside Bad Boy" would see one more championship goal attained, as he took the other member of the Saints of Twilight, Ignition, to the ring to challenge the Canadian Red Devil for the ComPro Showtime Title. The new tag team champions accompanied Boss at ringside and the Devil found himself facing a 3-on-1 situation against his will. Never one to back down from a challenge, the Devil took the fight to all his foes and seemed to have the match won when he set Ignition up for the Faceplant From Hell. But Ignition shoved the Devil off and partially through the ropes. Reckless then jumped up on the ring apron, drawing the attention of the referee. York slammed the Devil's head into the cornerpost and the dazed Devil stumbled back into the ring, just in time to be rolled up by Ignition (the man the Devil had originally beaten for the title 6 months prior) and pinned for 3.

With 2 new charges and two championships under his control, Boss Campbell truly believes that 2010 will be his year. But that doesn't mean that he's settled for this. The Heavyweight Title remains the sole elusive jewel in his managerial crown. If Boss can find the right man, he might finally be able to ascend that final rung and be the first person to guide men to all 4 ComPro championships.
