Oklahoma Nightmare = Oklahoma Champion
Posted: Oct 22nd 2009 By: CMBurnham
Despite his overwhelming size, Carnage remains one of the few people that doesn't jump to mind when the term "Heavyweight Champion" is brought up.
He's a 3-time GPCW Champion, but aside from that, he's mostly associated with the Hardcore Divisions in the federations he's competed in. This past weekend, he was victorious in both areas and added another title to his resume.
Friday night, Carnage once again ventured into the ring for GPCW. After paying tribute to the late Lou Albano, he announced that GPCW Champion Seth Allen had left the state and vacated the title. According to the contract stipulations, the title would revert back to him at that point, since he was the man Allen had beaten for the belt, but Carnage didn't want it that way and declared it vacant until such time as a tournament could be held. He then brought up the actions of GPCW Commissioner J. D. Richards at the last show, saying he was "stomping and crying" and had promised to go get someone. Carnage demanded that the portly commissioner "be a man" and reveal who he had recruited because Carnage feared no man.
At that point, Richards emerged through the curtain, draped in a sheik's headgear. He said he had travelled to Damascus, Syria to find a man capable of dealing with Carnage and that it was a "man feared by many". Then, Al Farat emerged from the curtain and returned to GPCW. With him came Javier Hussein and Dominator, who was in a homemade referee's shirt. Richards bragged about his finances, saying "With pockets this deep, you can buy what you want." and announced that Carnage would be facing Farat and Dominator would be the referee. Carnage said this was a joke, but Richards retorted that the only joke was him and ordered the match started.
In what was a surprise to no one, Dominator did everything he could to make things unfair for Carnage, allowing Hussein to interfere and also refusing to count pins that Carnage made on his Arabian opponent. Eventually, the match degenerated into a 3-on-1 brawl and Farat brought out his spike, bloodying Carnage's forehead, then digging even deeper into the wound with a fork. Finally, BLK-OUT came to the "Oklahoma Nightmare's" rescue, forcing the evil triad and their associate to back out of the area. Carnage demanded a 3-on-3 Lethal Street Brawl in the main event of the show and the crowd waited in anticipation of Carnage getting his revenge.
When the main event arrived, the anticipation was thick as everyone knew there would be destruction and chaos before the end of the night. Oddly, the match started out as a normal 6-man tag , with both teams staying in the ring and following the rules, using legal tags and minimal illegal tactics. But after a consultation by Farat's team, things eventually broke down. Wrestlers scattered everywhere and the arena became a wreck. MSWA Oklahoma Champion Jermaine Johnson went to the far side of the arena, near the concession stand, picked up a full trash can and threw it at Hussein, scattering uneaten nachos, cheese and partially empty cups of soda everywhere. Farat disposed of Montego Seeka, then joined Dominator in double-teaming Carnage. With Carnage down in the ring, a recovered Hussein, dug lighter fluid out from under the ring, then doused a table that had been set up been set up at ringside by Dominator and lit it on fire! As the flaming table drew everyone's attention, Dominator and Farat shoved Carnage off the ring apron and he plunged threw the burning lumber! But even that wasn't enough to finish off the "Oklahoma Nightmare". Carnage recovered, BLK-OUT took out Hussein & Dominator and Carnage delivered a thunderous chokeslam to Al Farat for the win.
With that victory to build momentum, Carnage rode into Ada to challenge NWA-OK Oklahoma Champion Spoiler 2000 for his title. Spoiler had recently passed the one-year mark as champion after beating Slam Shady for the vacant title at the Spirit Event Centre in Tulsa. Carange hadn't been a fixture in NWA-OK long, having first competed at the last Ada event and battling to a Double Countout against Shane Rawls. Nonetheless, the NWA-OK Board of Directors had deemed him a worthy contender and Carnage was not going to waste the opportunity.
Due to some technical issues, there was no annouce system at the show, but it didn't take an M. C. to let the crowd know who to cheer and who to boo. The champion went to the ring first and brought up how he was going to be victorious, much like the University of Texas had been victorious over Oklahoma University at the Red River Shootout the previous day. Then, Carnage's music played, and as it says at the beginning of his entrance theme, "When I wake up, the real nightmare begins". Carnage marched to the ring and began to match his power with the skill and cunning of the champion. Even the power of the bionic claw, when applied by S2K, wasn't enough to put down the mammoth champion. Eventually, a giant chokeslam was applied and Carnage became the new NWA-OK Oklahoma champion.
While the victory was satisfying, the issue between Carnage and Dominator remains deeply personal. But that issue promises to be settled next month as Carnage challenged Dominator to a Dog-Collar Match. No matter who won, the matter between the two would be settled. Carnage scored an early blow in the matter by connecting a chairshot onto Dominator's head while BLK-OUT held him, but that was just a preliminary blow. Come November, you can bet that the blood shed in the Lethal Street Brawl will be nothing compared to the devestation of one of the most violent types of matches ever.
