Here are some of the highlights of Chavo's exclusive interview, provided by The Mayhem's correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:
==================================================================================================
As part of the "Decade Of SmackDown" special telecast last Friday, World Wrestling Entertainment paid tribute to the career of the late Eddie Guerrero, which has received rave reviews from across the globe, and in many eyes was the highlight of the program. This Friday (October 9th) would have been the 42nd birthday of "Latino Heat." We look back & celebrate the life of Eddie on The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, as Chavo "Classic" returned to the program this week, and was welcomed back by The Big Mosh, Blade, & "The Chairman Of The Board" Todd Vincent to promote his wrestling & golf tournament being held in Bandera, TX this Friday & Saturday (October 9th/10th), with all proceeds benefiting the Eddie Guerrero Charity Fund & the Bandera Honors Veteran's Committee. For more information & how you can join the Guerrero family/other wrestling friends slated to attend, contact the Lost Valley Resort & Golf Course at (830) 460-8008, or log onto Chavo's official website (located at www.geocities.co.jp/Colosseum-Athene/1956/11.html). While preparing for the wrestling/golf tournament, "Classic" could not help but be moved about what he saw & witnessed on SmackDown from Boston, and the love & passion shown by his brother's fans from around the world. "You talk about emotions. I am at this moment emotional moved We all know WWE is #1 when it comes to production...I don't care what anybody thinks. I very much emotionally moved, emotionally honored. It was a very good tribute, it was something I was very proud of. When I think about it, it brought tears to my eyes: joyful tears & memory tears. If you haven't seen it, you have to see it. It's amazing, and it took me by surprise."
In life, Eddie had his demons, and some people still look to those demons, instead of looking at the life & career of an amazing performer. Mosh asked Chavo Sr. about the importance of celebrating his life & just that. "For people who met him or if you didn't meet him, you met him through the TV, or through other means. Eddie was a very giving person. He was not only a Christian man, but very giving. The charity I'm doing now is a charity that honors veterans & people on active duty now. And when Eddie would go to Iraq, he used to come back so elated, so full of life, so blessed because he saw people that was fighting for us & making our life better. And he was always so grateful about this."
In the last few months, we have seen Chavo's son (Chavo Guerrerro Jr.) involved in an on-air feud with Hornswoggle, and some critics have seen this as nothing more than a comedy act on Monday Night RAW. Many of his true, die-hard fans feel that he is being held down & just being embarrassed. "Classic" feels very differently, as his son has had the opportunities to be on television every week, and has the opportunities to be in many backstage vignettes with several of the RAW Guest Hosts, including Bob Barker, Cedric the Entertainer, & several other celebs. "As a Guerrerro, a lot of wrestlers have said to us 'You guys are too real.' And we couldn't understand this then, because we have always been wrestlers, and we have always been passionate about wrestling. Like I told my son (Chavo): You look at it this way, you have one of the longest feuds, you have been involved with every Guest Host directly, and you could always come back to wrestling. Right now, run with the program, milk the cow, & take as much as you can out of it, and they have you in a good spot." He went onto say that no matter whether they talk good or bad about him, they're talking about him. "At first he was a little disturbed a little bit but he's very happy with it now, he understands his role, and he understands more than the other Guerrerro's that it's entertainment."
The "Decade Of SmackDown" special also saw the return of Eddie's widow, Vickie, to the program as the manager/on-air boyfriend of SmackDown's newest talent, Eric Escobar. Vickie was one of the influential pieces of SmackDown's success while she was the General Manager through the beginning of this year. "The Chairman Of The Board" asked Chavo if he had any info about Vickie's return to the WWE after leaving several months ago to spend more time with her daughters. "Like I said, she is my ex-sister in law, the widow of Eddie Guerrerro. She has kinda outdone herself from the family, kinda gotten away from the family. But more power to her. I pray for her & hopes she does good, but between you guys & me and all the listeners, I don't think she's gonna make it as a manager."
Many fans of Chavo want to know what's next for the family & the evolution of the Guerreros. "I can't tell you that stuff, but right now Hector is with TNA (doing the Spanish commentating). And as far as the Guerreros, that's up to Vince McMahon. Where do I see the Guerreros? We'll always be here. We're always be involved in wrestling one way or another. How much longer does Chavo & the writers have? I don't think even Chavo knows. We just take it week-by-week."
More is contained in this exclusive interview with one of the members of Monday Night Mayhem's Hall Of Fame (the Class of 2009), the man who puts the "class" in "classic," including Chavo's candid thoughts on if a potential WWE return is in his future, his thoughts on his son using Twitter to communicate with his fans (and the reported backlash that some of the WWE superstars have received by using this social networking device), in addition to a "reunion" between Chavo & former WWE Head Of Security & The Mayhem's very own Jimmy Noonan. We invite all members of The Mayhem Nation around the world to contact the program via the The Mayhem's official MySpace page (located at www.MySpace.com/MondayNightMayhem & presented by TicketRelief.com) with your favorite moments, memories, & matches in the career of the late Eddie Guerrero.
