Neil & Allen: Who Is The Bigger Man?

Neil & Allen: Who Is The Bigger Man?

Posted: Jun 23rd 2009 By: CMBurnham

If someone were looking for a good word to describe MSWA MId-South Tag Team and GPCW Champion Seth Allen, that word would be "tenacious". Allen made it very clear that he wanted to relieve MSWA Mid-South and IZW Champion Aaron Neil of one, if not both, of those titles. Over the course of one week's time, Neil and Allen had 3 seperate clashes, but each man left with exactly what they walked into the ring with.

In actuality, the situation began on May 31 when Neil was chosen by Dexter Hardaway as his surprise partner against MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions T. M. S. Hardaway and Neil showed great cohesiveness until the Midnite Rider came out to distract Dexter. Dexter and the Rider battled to the back, leaving Neil at the mercy of a 2-on-1 attack. On June 14, MSWA commissioner Outlaw gave Neil a chance for some revenge. He ordered a match between Neil and Allen and, to make things perfectly fair, Allen' tag team partner Dane Griffin was barred from ringside. Neil was able to successfully defend his title on this occassion, but the experience in the ring proved beneficial for "The Original Sensation" later on.

The following Friday, Allen stormed to the ring after intermission at the GPCW event in Cache. Never at a loss to put himself over, Allen proclaimed that, even though he wasn't booked in the main event, the "main event" was there because he was the best in the company and the only person close to him was Dane Griffin. This brought Aaron Neil out and then things got interesting. Neil asked the crowd why it was that the people who talked the most often were afraid to fight. He said he could talk a lot about Aaron's bald spot or his "man panties", but he was more interested in taking Aaron's title. He finished by saying they could either do it in the ring or he could follow Aaron to the back and do it out there. Seth didn't seem to want anything to do with "The Real Deal", but the crowd chants of "You are scared!" got under his skin and he agreed to the match.

Very quickly, Seth revealed that he had smuggled in a weapon to use as an equalizer. With the crowd trying to tell referee Matt Garza about it, Seth stealthily hid the weapon all over the placel; first in his tights, then his knee pad, then back in his tights, then down in his boots. He was finally able to hit Aaron with it, but it didn't prove successful as he only got a two count from it. The battle then spilt outside and along the ringside area with cups of soda being involved. When the combatants finally made their way back into the ring, Dane Griffin came out. Allen passed off the foreign object to Dane, who remained at ringside. At this point, Thug Nasty, who had lost to Dane in the opener due to Allen's interference, blindsided Dane and grabbed the object, throwing it to Aaron. Aaron looked at it for a moment, then blatantly hit Seth in the head with it, right in front of the referee, who had no choice but to DQ Aaron. Frustrated with himself, Aaron left while Thug cleaned Dane from the ring, then gave a fall-away slam to Seth after the match.

With each man claiming one victory over the other, a rubber match of sorts was set for the IZW "Evolution" event. But it wouldn't be another one-on-one encounter as, along with Neil defending his title against Allen, he would also be defending against MWA Champion Blake Albright and newcomer Joe Gomez. Once again, the odds were stacked against Neil walking out a winner and champion, but he knew that, if he couldn't win, he'd at least go down fighting.

The turning point in the Fatal 4-Way Match came when Albright grabbed a chair and brought it into the ring. He threw it at Aaron Neil, but Neil caught it and threw it back at Albright. Unfortunately, Albright ducked and the chair slammed into the head of referee Donny Brooks. Allen and Albright then double-teamed the champion until Joe Gomez, who until that point seemed to be a loyal member of Impact, Inc., entered the ring. With Steve O going nuts at ringside, Neil hit Allen with the "Real Drill", but then Albright connected on Neil with the "Posterizer". Both Albright and Gomez made covers, but Donny Brooks was still down. This brought referee Sylvia Richmond to the ring and as she entered, Brooks began to recover. Both referees began their count simultaneously, but stopped at 2 and began to argue between themselves as to who was the legal official in the match. Meanwhile, all 4 combatants regained their senses and prepared for more battle.

Eventually, Richmond left and went to the back. Gomez then chased Albright up and to the back, leaving only Neil and Allen in the ring. Once again, Neil delivered the "Real Drill" and this time, he got the win, While Neil stood in the ring celebrating, Allen sent up to the top of the ramp, where he began to throw the biggest tantrum ever seen. Meanwhile, Albright, who had come back to ringside after the match was over, was soon escorted out of the area by Steve O, who kept saying that it "wasn't his fault" that Albright had lost.

It seems unlikely that Allen will receive another IZW Title shot soon, as he cashed in his status as the Impact Player of the Year to receive that shot. But perhaps he can get another title shot in MSWA. Plus, it would not be shocking to see Allen forced to defend his title against Neil in GPCW. Whatever the case, both these men believe that they are the better man and it may take hundreds more matches before a clear front-runner can be determined.
