Devil Puts Goldeneye In His Place

ComPro held it's most recent card on Valentine's Day, but it probably felt like Groundhog Day for new wrestler Goldeneye as he faced off against TAP Champion The Canadian Red Devil 6 times and the result was the same every match.

There was no big story behind the meeting of these two. No long standing feud. It was just a mid-card match. A chance for Goldeneye to try and make a name for himself and another "night at the office" match for the Devil. But it turned into something of a comedy of errors as the show went on.

The match was well contested, but the Devil's experience allowed him to pull out a victory and that didn't set well with Goldeneye. As the Devil was leaving the ring area, Goldeneye took the microphone and demanded a rematch. Never one to back down from a challenge, the Devil returned to the ring and the rematch was on. A few minutes later, the rematch was over and the result was the same: the Devil stood victorious.

Thinking quickly, Goldeneye again took the mic and said that he thought the Devil couldn't beat him in a match where pinfalls had to be until the count of 5, a gimmick that was made famous by King Kong Bundy. The Devil is certainly not of Bundy's stature, but he was up for the challenge and again came back to the ring to prove himself against the uppity newcomer. And again, Goldeneye was left embarrassed when the Devil pinned him for a 5 count in the middle of the ring.

Realising that pinfalls weren't working to his advantage, Goldeneye once more acquired the mic and demanded a "10-count match". Being new to the business, he did not know that this was called a "Knockout Match" or a "Last Man Standing Match", where the goal was to render your opponent unable to answer a 10 count by the referee. But the Devil knew what was being asked for and went for it, despite heavy protests from the crowd, who believed that the masked Canadian had nothing more to prove to the upstart. It was a well fought match and Goldeneye recovered from a couple of close calls, but couldn't do it all night, once again hearing the tolls of the ringside bell and knowing that he had failed.

Running out of options, Goldeneye quickly got to his feet and announced that he wanted a Submission match with the Devil. Again, this seemed to be a move of desperation on the part of the masked newcomer as the Devil is proficient in several submission holds, most notably the Sharpshooter. He didn't use that finsher to gain the submission here (although he did employ that move during the match), instead relying on another signature Canadian move, the Crossface. Goldeneye wasted no time in tapping out to the TAP Champion and the Devil felt sure that he had finally proven his point.

He was wrong. Goldeneye once more grabbed the mic (to the extreme displeasure of the crowd, who were tired of seeing Goldeneye compete and wanted fresh performers in the ring) and simply said, "Again!" That was all the Devil needed to hear and he jumped back in the ring, locked on a sleeper and proceded to render Goldeneye unconscious. When the bell rang this time, there would be no more challenges and repeated demands for another chance. The Devil had beaten Goldeneye 6 times in 6 seperate match under 4 different stipulations all in the same night. That appears to be some sort of Oklahoma record.

The Devil's winning streak continued the next afternoon at the MSWA event when he teamed with Damien Morte and defeated Vash Heartley & Sage. The Devil scored the winning pinfall for his duo after throwing Morte out of the ring, despite Morte doing most of the work for his team in the match.
