Is Jaymes Suffering From A Bad Case Of T. M. S.?

Is Jaymes Suffering From A Bad Case Of T. M. S.?

Posted: Feb 7th 2009 By: CMBurnham

The relationship between the South Side Soul Assassins has been one that both confused and amused the fans in MSWA. Now, that relationship is over.

On January 18, Tyson Jaymes & SWCW Champion 3rd Rail opened the MSWA show in a match against the New Age Syndicate. It appeared to be the rekindling of a feud that dominated much of 2006. But at the moment of victory for the South Siders, Tyson chose to make a statement by spearing Rail and left the fans in jaw-dropping shock.

Tyson, who was the legal man at the moment of the spear, then exited the ring and gave Scott Sanders & Shawn Sanders the victory by countout. And it was probably a good thing that Jaymes was outside the ring because when 3rd Rail got up, he immediately went after his partner to get some retribution.

To many, this turn of events was shocking. But, as we at Oklafan have documented on several occassions, it appeared that communication had been breaking down between the former MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions for months. Even dating back to the summer of 2008, Jaymes appeared to be upset with his partner during the Lethal Lotto Tag Team Tournament. Those issues seemed to resolve themselves after that tournament was over, but the miscommunication continued to rear its head as the South Siders challenged for to regain their tag team titles. While there were accidental issues during matches between the South Side Soul Assassins and the New Varsity Club in matches to determine the #1 contenders to the MSWA Tag Team Title, there is no doubt that this occurence was intentional.

In FACT, Tyson't attitude all over the state seems to have changed. Besides competing in MSWA, Tyson had become a regular in IZW. But his success down there was very low and perhaps the frustration overcame him. Or perhaps he didn't feel the connection that he seemed to have in Midwest City with the fans. In any event, the fun-loving individual who used to be known as "The Candyman": was gone and replaced by a stern, focused competitor who appeared to have something to prove.

It didn't take MSWA officials long to book a Grudge match between the former partners and that match was the semi-main event on February 1. Tyson arrived to something of a mixed reaction, but the crowd was certainly behind 3rd Rail when he emerged. As angry as these men seemed to be at each other, they didn't tear into each other as might have been expected. Make no mistake, the match was hard-hitting, but it was as if both men still seemed to hope that maybe something could be resolved. And then, the wild card emerged in the form of MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champion Dane Griffin. He calmly walked to ringside with his title belt and stood, observing the action. At one point in the match, Tyson slid out of the ring and engaged in a conversation with Griffin in which Griffin suggested that Tyson give 3rd Rail a cookie. Tyson somewhat agitatedly replied that he didn't have any pockets in his tights. After that, Griffin's presence became more a distraction and on several occasions he blatantly interfered, but referee Bill Decker was unable catch him in the act.

Tyson finally resorted to feigning an injury, which brought Decker over to investigate. This allowed Griffin to enter the ring and hit Rail with the tag team title belt in the head, knocking him senseless and giving Tyson the chance to cover and win the match. Tyson left, Rail once again awoke and was now even more embarassed than 2 weeks ago. Last time it was a blindside attack, but it was Tyson doing it. This time, he couldn't even do the job himself.

The question now on everyone's mind is what alliance there might be between Tyson and T. M. S. Fellow MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champon Max McGuirk was present at the show, but did not come out to interfere in the match. Perhaps Tyson struck a deal with Griffin alone as a one time event. The only clear thing is that the issue between these former best friends is not over. Rumours are beginning to reach Oklafan that 3rd Rail is demanding a more intense match to take his frustrations out on his former partner.

Hopefully, none of these issues will interfere with his SWCW Title defence against Kevin James Sanchez on Sunday.
