Bill Goldberg Teleconference highlights - talks WFA, UFC, WCW, WWE, TNA and more

The World Fighting Alliance (a self declared alternative MMA product in the United States), which airs on InDemand on U.S. cable and on the Dish Network via satellite, has formally announced that Bill Goldberg will serve as a color commentator for the upcoming ?WFA: King of the Streets? live pay-per-view broadcast from the Forum in Los Angeles on 7/22.
During today's conference call, Goldberg said providing color on a broadcast is the next best thing to being in the ring. He said due to his age (39), he is finding new ways to re-invent himself. Goldberg stated that he is most looking forward to the Bas Rutten match on the card. He talked about training with Rutten in Japan.
Goldberg said WFA is capable of competing with UFC as underdog WCW competed and surpassed WWE. He said he likes being part of the underdog.
?You never say never,? said Goldberg when asked about TNA rumors. He expressed an interest in competing against the tyrant, Vince McMahon. Goldberg said issues with Spike TV would have to be resolved before he would step in a TNA ring. He said he has no immediate plans to return to wrestling, citing acting projects in a movie and TV series is in his foreseeable future.
He believes TNA definitely need some help (whether it be in time slot, production, talent, etc.), and would only get involved with TNA if he felt they were fully committed to competing with WWE, that alone would be the only reason for himself to consider working for TNA with his busy schedule. He believed TNA desperately needs a better time slot.
Goldberg put over Brock Lesnar as a friend, and when asked about doing a MMA match against Lesnar, he said no due to that friendship.
Goldberg talked about his new baby boy, and admitted to changing diapers.
Goldberg said there will be a second season of ?Pros vs. Joes,? but that he doesn?t know if he?ll be apart.
When asked about fighting Vince McMahon in a MMA match, Goldberg said people would have to tie his hands behind his back to make it fair.
Goldberg said the success of the ?Ultimate Fighter? helps the WFA because it gives the MMA genre exposure.
?I?d break his neck,? Goldberg said about a possible match with Samoa Joe.
He said David Arquette as a WCW champion was a joke. He put over his experiences with Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.
?I didn?t really hear it,? when asked about the fans reaction to his final match against Brock Lesnar in WWE. Goldberg said the fans turned their backs on Lesnar, not the other way around. Goldberg supported his decision to pursue a career in pro football.
When asked about the Spear vs. the Gore, Goldberg said he didn?t know what the gore is.
?That?s a fact,? Goldberg said about never setting foot again in a WWE ring.
Goldberg appreciates that WWE is drug testing, but isn?t sure about the specifics of Vince McMahon?s testing policy.
Goldberg said he was shocked when WWE asked him to wear a wig. He said it wasn?t purely about business in WWE.
Goldberg talked about the grind of being on the road, living out of a suitcase, during his days in pro wrestling.
Goldberg said Eddy Guerrero was a friend of his and was crushed when he learned of his death. He said the Guerrero family helped him in pro wrestling.
He said he doesn?t watch WWE anymore. He said the industry is lacking big stars.
Goldberg contributed the decline in popularity of wrestling and the rise of UFC in the growth of MMA.
Goldberg said the Lesnar Wrestlemania match was a mutual parting of the ways with WWE. Goldberg said he didn?t believe they put him over Lesnar to extend an olive branch in the hopes he?d return someday.
Goldberg said he didn?t wrestle in high school due to other sports such as baseball.
