Williams Is No Angel To Many In IZW

Williams Is No Angel To Many In IZW

Posted: Dec 17th 2008 By: CMBurnham

Angel Williams may be regarded as one of the absolute best wrestlers in the state of Oklahoma, but he is by no means the most popular. Since turning his back on the fans and joining the stable of Impact, Inc., the former IZW Champion has shown a vicious streak that sems to have no end. Where once the fans cheered as acts of mayhem and destruction were committed in the ring, now they fear for the safety of their favorite wrestlers as the carnage continues on a near weekly basis.

Unfortunately, there isn't much anyone can do about this due to the presence of co-commissioner Steve O who was appointed by IZW owner (and IZW Tag Team Champion) Johnny Z. And Steve O is well aware of his power, as he came striding out during the promo by BLK-OUT Saturday night and interrupted the tag team duo. He said he was excited for them in their TLC match next week at Chaotic Christmas, but felt it only fair that he give the champions the night off. They were (allegedly) off at a fine dining establishment watching the proceedings on closed-circuit TV. Jermaine Johnson said that since Impact, Inc. wasn't there to back him up, they'd take their frustration out on Steve O instead. The co-commissioner was quick to weild his power, saying that if they touched him, they'd be suspended and then there'd be no Chaotic Christmas, only "Welfare Christmas." After Johnson called Steve O a "New Age Hippie", Steve O responded that he had better be careful what he wished for because he just might get it. At that point, Angel Williams & IZW Tag Team Champion Bernie D emerged from under the ring and begand to demolish BLK-OUT. Not satisfied with just using their fists in a sneak attack, they then brought in a table and set it up in the ring. Angel placed a prone Montego Seeka on the table, while Bernie hoisted Johnson onto the second rope, then gave him a Sky High through the table on top of his partner. And then, just to rub everything in their faces, Steve O told Johnson that he had a match tonight and it was starting immediately.

That match was against Angel Williams.

A healthy, rested Jermaine Johnson would have had trouble with Angel. The size, weight & experience factors all gave Williams the edge. Factor in the shock from being put through a table and Johnson was fighting steeply uphill the whole way. And to his credit, he never backed down. There were several occasions where it appeared that Angel had Jermaine down for 3, only to see him kick out at 2 & 9/10. But ultimately, the fatigue and earlier injuries took their toll and Johnson was put down for the count by Williams.

The interesting thing to note here is that Williams didn't have an issue with with member of BLK-OUT. His target is Aaron Neil. Neil was scheduled to face Randy Price in the main event of the evening and he came prepared to fight. Price put up a great struggle, but he is still a rookie and made some mistakes. The big one here involved him climbing up to the 2nd rope and turning around, prepping his foot so that he could do a drop off with an elbow onto Neil. But when he went to jump, he forgot the positioning of his foot and came crashing down when he went to jump. This allowed Neil to catch him and execute "The Real Drill". That should have been the end of the show, but it wasn't. Because Angel Williams returned to confront Aaron Neil (from outside the ring, of course). And he had the audacity to call Neil a coward, implying that Neil was afraid to meet man-to-man. He understood that Neil had been trying to get Johnny Z to call off the match between Neil & Williams and "admitted" that he had been trying to get himself a win by forfeit, but he wanted to hear this from Aaron's own mouth.

Neil took the mic and thanked Angel for the nice offer. He then did a quick poll of the audience and discovered that most of them wanted to see the men fight. The fans cheered the roof off as Aaron announced that there was nothing he wanted more than to face Angel in the ring. At this point, he laid out an ultimatum: Angel can come into the ring or Aaron would exit the ring and come straight to him. Angel once more asked for a forfeit , but it wasn't granted and and Aaron pointed out that, without Impact, Inc. behind him, he wasn' t much of anything. Aaron then provoked Angel to enter the ring while stepping over the body of Randy Price. As soon as Angel entered the ring, the fists were flying. Both men landed strong blows on each other for a while, but eventually, Aaron repeated his performance from earlier when he caught Angel in the "Real Drill" and put him away. Aaron then stood in the ring, soaking in the adoration of the fans while preparing for the match next Saturday. It might not have been a real match, but Aaron still celebrated victoriously. And that's the problem with the whole weekend situation. Both men (well, actually just Neil) wanted the real match to occur last Saturday.

In both instances, Angel provoked the attacks he took part in. Neil will have to keep his eyes wide open to make sure he isn't attacked from behind as Angel not only has the other Impact, Inc. members out there, but Neil also has an ongoing issue with Dane Griffin in MSWA and that might spill over into IZW. Chaotic Christmas is well on its way. Angel Williams appears to be in charge and it will take a mighty man to topple him from his position.
