Barry wins IZW Title; Impact, Inc. gains more power

Posted: Sep 23rd 2008 By: mikeiles

Just when you think you have the answers Impact, Inc. changes the questions. Now with Michael Barry has won the IZW Heavyweight Title, they now control two-thirds of the championships in the company.

At the first show in their new home in Lawton, Johnny Z & Bernie D won the IZW Tag Team Titles for an unprecidented 5th time. On that same show, Michael Barry defeated Aaron Neil to become the #1 contender to the IZW Heavyweight Title held by Angel Williams, who was conspicuously absent. IZW Commissioner Mike Iles announced that Williams would be in attendance at show #2 and would have an explanation for his absence.

Iles brought out Williams after the second match and Williams explained his absence. He said when he flew in from Japan and landed at Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City, he hopped into the waiting limo and told the driver to take him to The Impact Arena. He fell asleep in the limo due to jetlag. When he awoke, he wasn't in Lawton. He was still in Oklahoma City. Williams said that after a physical confrontation with the limo driver, he found out that the driver was paid off by Impact, Inc. to make sure Williams did not make the show.

Johnny Z and Michael Barry came out to protest to the allegations. They said they had no part in the alleged chicanery. Johnny Z and Michael Barry demanded that Commissioner Iles give Barry the title shot as he was promised since he defeated Neil in a #1 contender match. Iles said that he was going to give Barry a title shot but it wouldn't be a one on one match. Iles said that the fans the previous week were promised a Triple Threat Match with Williams defending the title against Barry and Aaron Neil. He continued that since all three participants were present the match would take place that night in the main event. Both Impact, Inc. members attacked Williams. As Johnny Z came off the ropes towards Williams, who was being held by Barry, Williams ducked and Johnny hit Barry who rolled to the floor. Williams then dropped Johnny with two F5s.

The match began with Williams and Neil in the ring while Barry stood outside. As sson as the brawl spilled to the outside, all three members began pummeling each other. The match was a brutal affair. Johnny Z came to ringside and handcuffed Williams to the ringside barricade while Barry took control of the match. One Saturday Night Special later, Barry became a 2-time IZW Heavyweight Champion, tying Aaron Neil as the only multi-time IZW Champions.

So every active member of Impact, Inc. now holds IZW gold. Dustin Heritage holds the Impact Division Title and he is the lone champion not in Johnny Z's back pocket. Don't think that goes unnoticed to the most successful faction currently in Oklahoma: Impact, Inc.

Other News & Notes from the IZW show:
The show opened with a video featuring ring announcer Jesse Storm interviewing the new Impact Division Champion Dustin Heritage asking how it felt to win his first title. Heritage said it felt great and he thanked the fans for supporting him. They were then joined by Jermaine Johnson who congratulated Heritage for the title win. Johnson then asked for a title shot, friend vs. friend, to which Heritage agreed. The proceeds were then interrupted by Randy Price who was dragging with him IZW Commissioner Mike Iles. Price said Heritage wasn't allowed to dole out title shots as he sees fit. Iles disagreed saying as long as Heritage defends every 30 days he was OK with it. Iles then said if Price wanted a shot, he had to prove himself to Heritage, so Iles gave Price a match against Montego Seeka to start the show. Heritage himself came to ringside for a closer look. It was enough to distract Price and allow Seeka to pick up the win.

Match #2 saw Carnage continue his path of destruction. This week's victim was Ronnie Storm. Carnage beat him from pillar to post picking up the easy victory. Carnage's manager Christopher Bentley then got on the mic to say that the destruction will continue.

Dustin Heritage successfully defended the title against Jermaine Johnson, but not in the way he would have liked. It was a friendly match between two friends until Randy Price and his manager Steve O came down to ringside. Price hit Johnson with the Impact Division Title and Heritage won by DQ. It was reported that Johnson was seen at a local drinking establishment in Lawton singing Backstreet Boys and Elvis Presley karaoke later in the night. Perhaps he received a concussion.

Seth Allen made an appearance as well, but was not in action. He came out to the ring with Brieanna Bringle. After calling one of the ringside fans a "jobber", he said he should be the top star in the company and he was going to take his spot at the top.

Ky-ote Joe made his IZW debut against Dane Griffin, who has been rather impressive since being a regular in IZW. The match was back and forth and both combatants pulled out all the stops. Joe picked up the win and hopefully we will see more of the Native American star.

Come on out to The Impact Arena each and every Saturday. The arena is located at 1009 SW F Ave. just one block off 11th street on F avenue. Bell time is 7pm and admission is just $5, still the best value for your wrestling dollar.

IZW...FEEL THE IMPACT!!!
