Brent Albright loses the OVW Title
Posted: May 7th 2006 By: CMBurnham
C. M. Punk defeated Brent Albright for the Ohio Valley Wrestling Heavyweight Title last Wednesday at their weekly TV Tapings in a strap match. It was the culmination of months of effort on the part of Punk, resulting in his first OVW Championship.
Albright had recently been brought up to the WWE, where he has been competing under the name Gunner Scott. This was not a good week for him there either, as on Smackdown last Friday, he was defeated by Booker T when Booker?s wife Sharmell grabbed his leg, causing Gunner to lose focus, allowing Booker to hit a superkick and score the victory.
Gunner defeated Booker in his WWE debut 3 weeks ago. He?s also had some issues with Dave Finlay in recent weeks. He made his first European tour last week, scoring victories over Orlando Jordan, Tatanka and WWE World Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms in what was initially reported as a title match. This was later corrected by WWE sources.
