Big Stevie Has His Cake And Eats It Too

Big Stevie Has His Cake And Eats It Too

Birthdays are supposed to be special. Days of celebration and gifts from friends. That was what Big Stevie Caballero was counting on and what TAP Oklahoma Heritage Champion Tim Rockwell had planned. But instead of enjoying a grand celebration, Caballero ended up with a mess on his face and revenge on his mind and Justin Lee ruined his big day.

As the ComPro show opened Saturday, Rockwell & Caballero joined ComPro Champion Romero Contreras and ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion El Super Colibri in the ring. Rockwell brought a cake with him to celebrate the FACT that it was Stevie's birthday and Stevie announced that he knew what gift Kitty had for him: an Oklahoma X Division Title shot for Rockwell at Night of Champions. Kitty, however, had different plans. She said that Rockwell was not going to automatically be named the #1 contender and brought out all the other challengers for the title, including Justin Lee, Dutch Hagan, Shane Morbid & ComPro Tag Team & TAP Champion The Canadian Red Devil. Romero dismissed Dutch, citing his lack of wins and Kitty agreed that he wasn't one of the top contenders. Kitty then went on to say that the #1 contender may have only won a tag team match last week and gone to a draw the week before, but he still impressed her with these accomplishments. She then announced that Justin Lee was officially the #1 contender to the title.

Rockwell was infuriated and reminded Kitty that he never got a rematch (apparently forgetting that the rematch clause had been discussed 2 weeks ago and that Kitty had stated at that time that Caballero hadn't put one in the title contract because he was so certain of Rockwell's victory.). In an effort to quell the shrill protests of the former champion, Kitty offered Rockwell a rematch later that night. Rockwell & Caballero said that wouldn't do as it was Stevie's birthday. Kitty offered June 14 and again, that wasn't satisfactory as Rockwell & Caballero had "other engagements". Rockwell offered June 28, but Kitty pointed out that that was Night of Champions and Colibri was set to defend against Justin Lee. Caballero then consulted his daily planner and said they were free on June 19. Romero stepped forward and, in his own insightful way, pointed out that June 19 wasn't a Saturday and there wasn't a show then. Kitty finally broke down and said Rockwell could have a title match on June 21. Seeing no other option, Rockwell & Caballero accepted and the match was official.

Having sat through all that, Justin stepped forward and looked at the birthday cake Rockwell had been holding for Stevie the whole time. He said it looked very good and asked what kind it was. Oddly, Rockwell didn't know and began to pick up a corner of it to see. Justin took it upon himself to superkick Rockwell at that moment, resulting in a faceful of cake. Caballero was then shoved facefirst into the remainder of the cake and the pair left, embarassed and upset.

Perhaps it wasn't the best thing for Justin to do, as during his match with Dutch Hagen, Rockwell & Caballero interfered and attacked Justin. After a quick double team, then placed a chair around Justin's knee and stomped down on it, causing serious injury to "The Broken Arrow Bad Boy". Thankfully, Colibri came to Justin's rescue, but the damage had already been done, as Justin was able to put no weight on the injured knee and had to be helped to the back after intermission.

Rockwell seems to have a great opportunity now. He has a title shot on June 21. Assuming he's able to come away with the title at that show, he then faces Justin who may not be 100%. Caballero's scheming seems to have paid off. But an injured animal is often the most dangerous kind and Rockwell may find himself in a situation that not even Big Stevie can get him out of come June 28.
