Missy Discusses Dave Meltzer vs. Bryan Alvarez
Posted: Apr 17th 2008 By: CMBurnham
In wrestling one of the dreaded names is Dave Meltzer by old school workers. Many promotions felt Dave exposing the business to his small niche audience would ruin the business. Since the internet explosion, everybody with a web site feels they are the "New Dave" and "The Messiah Of Wrestling Journalism". Usually these so called journalists just steal info from Dave.
Over the last year I became a fan of Bryan Alvarez. I find him witty on his radio shows. I'm impressed that he actually has taken a bump as a wrestler. Now that "The Icon" Dave Meltzer found a possible equal, do you think its time to have the "Ultimate Sheet Writer Championship"?
I'm going to do the tail of the tape on these combatants. Since both combatants are barred from contributing to this article.
Conditioning:
Dave Meltzer: Dave is a one time avid body builder. Meltzer would definitely have the strength advantage. Meltzer can type out a 20 page sheet in a matter of 5 days. This demonstrates explosive energy. This would give Meltzer a slight advantage if this goes the duration.
Bryan Alvarez: Alvarez is supposedly a cardio freak. He can type a newsletter and do 4 live radio shows a week. Plus Bryan Tivo's tons of wrestling shows. I feel all of these activities will burn out Bryan. You also have add the wear and tear of Bryan allegedly doing Ju Jitsu and wrestling.
Advantage: Dave Meltzer
Shooter Reputation:
Dave Meltzer: Dave has spent thirty years dodging angry wrestlers and promoters. I even saved Dave from a angry Jim Cornette in the 80's. Unfortunantly Dave never proved himself. Now that Meltzer is married, he doesn't go to shows very often. Meltzer's introverted behavior and his life time bounty over his head from a anti sheet reading industry makes me question his guts.
Bryan Alvarez: Bryan's alleged Ju Jitsu training might be in the beginner classes with children. He does wrestle on the indy scene. But pro wrestlers are a mix bag in shoots.
Advantage: Bryan Alvarez:
My personal pick is Bryan Alvarez. This has nothing to do with me getting a comp subscription. I'm going with his alleged Ju Jitsu background VS. the stiff muscle bound freak [Meltzer will be steroid tested. A failure can result in be banned on writing a sheet for 6 months by the California Smart Mark Commision].
My biggest worry is Bryan's posse of radio contributers interfering.
That's why I will guarding the cage.
My prediction is there will be a run in by a guy in a "Super Chico" mask. This will distract Meltzer for Alvarez to get a sudmission.
I would love to hear other insiders opinions on this potential dream match. I bet this match will cost less than the Fedor VS. Couture dream match and draw more buys. I'll be back tomorrow with my real article.
