AJ Styles says he may have been ‘rage baited’ into Avery Styles chair controversy

Posted: Oct 1st 2026 By: Shounak Chakribarti

AJ Styles has opened up about the recent Avery Styles-GCW chair controversy.

In August, indie wrestler Arik Cannon reacted to Nattie’s comments about Avery Styles paying his dues in wrestling. Responding to the WWE veteran, Cannon took a shot at Avery Styles for not helping with chairs at a GCW show he was part of.

This soon became a talking point on social media, which AJ Styles soon commented on. Now, speaking on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, Styles believes he may have been rage-baited into

“The most ridiculous thing that was ever talked about on X, yeah, and I think I may have got rage-baited into that,” Styles said. A few weeks ago, TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth also opened up about this and claimed that he wanted Avery Styles to address the situation, rather than his father.

However, the controversy did more good than harm to Avery Styles, who soon became a talking point on the internet and shortly after signed up with TNA Wrestling.
