Sting remembers AEW colleague PAC: ‘Loved and respected by all of us’

Tributes from PAC’s AEW colleagues are illuminating what a special person he really was.

AEW, and the entire wrestling world, was rocked on Sunday night with the news that PAC (Benjamin Satterley) has passed away at 40 years old. In a tribute this morning, Sting — himself a highly respected legend of the industry — remembered PAC as someone who was loved and respected by everyone:

Extremely talented. Nothing he couldn’t do. Loved and respected by all of us. God bless Pac’s family.

PAC was known for being a private person who was dedicated to keeping kayfabe. He was also humble and didn’t realize how great he was in the ring, even as his peers marveled at what he could do.

John Silver wrote:

Not only was Ben the best wrestler in the world but he was the most humble person I ever met. I would tell him he was the best and would never accept it, even after putting on a 5 star match classic. Ben will be missed by everyone. Love you and I’ll miss you

Because PAC was a quiet person by nature, Zayda Steel says she was at first hesitant to approach him backstage. But PAC went out of his way to make her feel welcome and compliment her on how hard she was working:

Every week before shows, I try to pick people’s brains. PAC was quiet, so I never went out of my way to approach him. But one day, he stopped me in catering, complimented my work ethic, and I got to tell him I’d been trying things I’d watched from his matches with Sami and others growing up. He told me to never hesitate to ask for help.
Just last week, before my match with Thekla, PAC was wrestling right after me. He told me not to overthink and that I was going to do just fine. That was the last thing I heard from him.

Referee Bryce Remsburg shared how PAC would bring his children candy from the United Kingdom — and he helped make them fans of his favorite soccer team (Newcastle United).

To many, he was a bastard. To my kids, he was Ben – who brought them Kinder Eggs from the UK, who converted them to Newcastle fans.
To me, he was an incredible friend for 20 years. Watching a Black Arrow from inside the ring still takes my breath away.
The best of us.

Information regarding PAC’s cause of death is not known at this time. During what’s been a very emotional period for the company, AEW will presumably pay tribute to him on Dynamite in Pittsburgh this Wednesday. This comes just weeks after AEW mourned the loss of “The Butcher” Andy Williams.
