Jake Hager undergoes emergency eye surgery after scary Power Slap injury
Posted: Sep 19th 2026 By: Joseph Currier
A scary injury in his latest Power Slap fight has resulted in Jake Hager undergoing emergency surgery.
At Power Slap’s event on Thursday night, Hager was left bleeding from the eye when he lost to Johnny Magna by TKO. The image was so disturbing that Dana White made the decision not to show replay of what happened. White, calling it one of the worst injuries he’s ever seen in either Power Slap or UFC, said he’d do whatever it took to get Hager the medical attention he needed.
Hager’s partner Patricia Blackburn, a fellow Power Slap fighter, shared with outlet Slap News that Hager is recovering from emergency surgery on his eye. They are keeping the details of everything private but thanked everyone for their support.
Blackburn said:
Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you’ve shown Jake during this difficult time.
Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery. We’re taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know.
Thank you for being there for Jake. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.

Hager is a former pro wrestler for WWE (where he was known as Jack Swagger) and AEW. He also has a history of competing in MMA, amateur wrestling, and playing football. He considered himself essentially retired from pro wrestling at one point but has since returned to the ring.
