Update on Jeff Jarrett’s CMLL future ahead of Blue Panther match

Jeff Jarrett is hoping his match at the CMLL 93rd Anniversary Show is not a “one-and-done” situation in the promotion.

Last week, it was announced that Jarrett will face Blue Panther on the show at Arena Mexico on Friday, September 18. Following the announcement, some fans expressed frustration that Jarrett was another non-CMLL wrestler being given a spot on the show while some CMLL regulars have been left off.

Our own Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jarrett is hoping to be a “semi-regular” performer in the company.

Meltzer said:

“What I can say, and I don’t know if this is going to transpire, but I do know for a fact that Jeff Jarrett is very interested in actually not doing a one-and-done, but actually not being a regular, not like going down every Friday, but being like a semi-regular from AEW who’s going to go and work a program and build a big match and things like that.“

“Similar probably to what Johnny TV did, except bigger. At least that’s his hope. May not happen.”

Jarrett last wrestled in Arena Mexico at AEW Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, 2026. He was in a dark match, teaming with Brillante Jr., Mascara Dorada, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong in a win over Nick Wayne, The Dogs, and The Swirl.
