MVP relates to Zilla Fatu’s past, predicts he will be a WWE star for years to come

Current AEW star MVP recently addressed Zilla Fatu’s past and shared a major prediction about his WWE future.

Both MVP and Fatu share a dodgy past. However, both men have overcome it and made a name for themselves in the pro wrestling industry.

Recently, speaking on his Marking Out podcast, MVP opened up and related to Fatu’s past. The wrestling veteran further shared a prediction about Fatu’s success in WWE.

“No, his talent, his ability, his desire, you know, his drive. He can be great. He’s young, though. He’s very young. And, you know, I got a personal thing because he’s an ex-con. He did time here in Texas.

“You know, he was here in the Texas penitentiary when he was young, as a teenager. He was wilding out, being foolish, caught a case, did time. He got out; he was on paper. He had to get his paper cleared up before he could get a chance to go to NXT, for them to take a chance on him. Sound familiar?” MVP shared.

The 52-year-old further opened up and claimed that he related to Fatu’s past and is currently rooting for him. MVP claimed that he wants to see the youngster do well. And while wrestling saved his life, Fatu has another advantage over it: his late legendary father, Umaga, whose name opened the door for him.

“He’s got to do the work. And people think, ‘Well, you got to NXT. You made it.’ No, you didn’t. Because now you really got to turn up. You got to show up for practice every day. You got to show up for training. You got to do the promo classes. You got Shawn Michaels there overseeing everything. You got people there that are overseeing your development and you’re expected to step up if you want to make it to the next level,” MVP explained.

“And if you want to make it to that next level, you have to perform at a level commensurate to main-roster television. And then they go, ‘Okay, you made it to main roster.’ No, now you have to step up again and prove that you belong there. First, you got to prove that you can make it there. Then when you make it there, you have to prove that you belong there. You have to deliver the goods every week on television and every pay-per-view,” he added.

The former WWE United States Champion added that while Fatu’s work in WWE has just begun; he wholeheartedly believes he can succeed in the promotion. “He’s already got cousins and family there to bring him along, to help him to make good decisions, good choices, and show him the way. So, you know, I’m going to predict that Zilla Fatu will be a star for the company for years to come,” MVP claimed.

Fatu served a six-year sentence as a teenager before turning his life around and becoming a pro-wrestler. Similarly, the veteran MVP also served nine and a half years in prison during his youth before turning his life around with wrestling. Sharing a similar past, MVP related a lot to Fatu’s story and rooted for him to succeed.
