John Morrison’s WWE character and entrance had a different charm, but that was also due to Stephanie McMahon.
A few days ago, while speaking to The Wrestling Classic, Morrison opened up and detailed how McMahon helped him develop his iconic slow-motion WWE entrance.
“That was something that kind of came up when I was talking to Stephanie McMahon about entrances. I think at the time I was really into super slow-mo and the Phantom camera. I don’t know if you’re familiar with that, but it shoots extremely high frame rates.
“Thank God she did, she came up with the idea of, like, ‘Well, just try any kind of slow-mo.’ Because it was that and she took that to production, it happened,” Morrison shared. “It wasn’t old John Morrison saying, ‘Okay, guys, I’m going to need some slow-mo. I want glasses. I want the pyro to be slow.’ That might have worked also, but because she walked in there and said that, it was done.”
Morrison initially joined WWE in 2002 with Tough Enough 3. After co-winning the contest, he was offered a developmental contract with the promotion. This turned his career around, and he started his first tenure with WWE, which lasted till 2011.
