Rhino: Tony Khan is a ‘great guy to work for’

They haven’t worked together too often, but Rhino is a big fan of AEW founder Tony Khan.

Rhino, an ECW legend who’s also worked for WWE and is a TNA Hall of Famer, will be returning to AEW this week when the promotion holds two events in his home state of Michigan. He made his AEW debut at a Dynamite episode in 2025 and is now coming back for the second straight year. This week’s Dynamite and Collision will both take place from the Masonic Temple in Detroit. Rhino’s role has not been announced, but he appeared on the local Fox affiliate to help promote the events.

“A lot of the AEW stars are well-seasoned. They’re well-trained. And they’re invested not only in the product — and that’s why Tony Khan, he’s the owner-operator,” Rhino said. “He’s hands-on, he’s there, he’s making the calls. Great guy to work for. And he puts a product for families to go out and enjoy.”

When asked how he’s able to still keep going 30 years into his career, Rhino said it helps that he’s never stopped working. Staying in ring shape and keeping your body calloused helps with the pain. When you take time off and then return, that’s when wrestling really hurts.

Rhino’s AEW debut in May 2025 was a loss to Nick Wayne, who was the ROH Television Champion at the time.

Dynamite and Collision are both airing live from Masonic Temple Theater this week. The Collision episode is a special Thursday edition. The events will include the fallout from AEW’s Redemption pay-per-view and the official start of the All In build.

Khan’s passion for wrestling is something Rhino first came to notice when he saw Khan at a TNA event during the time that AEW and TNA had a partnership.
