War Raiders vs. R-Truth & Damian Priest announced for next week’s WWE SmackDown

WWE has announced only one match for next week’s episode of SmackDown. But it’s a match with championships from multiple brands at stake.

Damian Priest was shown warming up backstage on SmackDown tonight. His tag team partner R-Truth arrived and discussed their upcoming title vs. title match against the War Raiders, the AAA Tag Team Champions. Priest then explained that the tag match was booked for next week, and he was preparing for a singles match against Finn Balor.

Balor went on to defeat Priest in the main event of the show.

Priest and R-Truth had agreed to a title-vs.-title match against the War Raiders on SmackDown three weeks ago, but no date for that match was announced. We now know it will take place on July 31 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The War Raiders defeated the Psycho Circus (Psycho Clown & Pagano) to win the AAA tag titles on May 30 in Monterrey, Mexico. They have not defended the championships since.

Priest & R-Truth won the WWE tag belts from JC Mateo & Tama Tonga on March 20 on the March 20 episode of SmackDown in Raleigh, North Carolina. They have defended the belts several times since then, most recently against Talla Tonga & Tama Tonga on the June 19 SmackDown in Kansas City, Missouri.
