Phil Hickerson has passed away at the age of 79.

In a post shared by Cauliflower Alley Club on social media, it was announced that wrestling legend Hickerson had passed away at the age of 79.

“The wrestling world has lost one of its true tough men. Today we say goodbye to Phil Hickerson, who has passed away at the age of 79. Our condolences to family, friends and fans around the world. Rest easy, sir… and thank you for the memories,” the post read.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Hickerson became a star in Tennessee wrestling, where he rose to prominence both as a singles and tag team wrestler.

Hickerson is well-remembered for his tag-team run with the late Dennis Condrey as The Bicentennial Kings. They were managed at different stages by Al Costello, Rock Hunter, and Ron Wright. They won the Southern tag titles nine times, along with five runs as U.S. tag champions, and held the Mid-Americas belts twice.

He began his in-ring career in 1974 and wrestled until 1980. However, due to injuries, Hickerson took a break and returned in 1984, and then continued wrestling until 1991. In July 1989, he defeated Eric Embry for the WCWA Texas Heavyweight Championship. He was later inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1995.
