NEWS
A lot of familiar faces were brought in for A. J. Styles’ retirement last week on “WWE Monday Night RAW”. The Good Brothers (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson), his former Bullet Club tag team partners and associates in WWE, were shown arriving and welcomed by Michin, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. Former TNA World Champion Frankie Kazarian was shown walking backstage and opened a “Boiler Room” door to find Abyss, now known by his real name of Chris Park and a WWE producer. Styles’ former tag team partner Omos was also there, greeting former TNA star and current WWE producer Petey Williams, and former TNA announcer Jeremy Borash. Drake Maverick, the former Rockstar Spud, was also in attendance and while not shown during the show, he joined the rest of the crew at the top of the ramp. Before coming out for his retirement speech, Styles was serenaded by a fantastic tribute video set to the song “Higher” by the popular band Creed, showcasing the best moments from his TNA and WWE careers.

WWE released post-show footage of A. J. Styles’ retirement ceremony on “WWE Monday Night RAW”, which you can watch by clicking here.

Now that he’s retired and getting to spend more time at home, A. J. Styles shared a photo on Instagram of his daughter doing his hair: “What are you doing now that you’re retired? Well, I’m currently getting my hair done by my daughter.”

Shinsuke Nakamura reacted to A. J. Styles’ retirement: “AJ left the ring with his family by his side. That’s the right way to go. We fought. We pushed each other. We made history. As a rival, I respect him. As a friend, I’m happy for him. Much love, brother”.

Xavier Woods has opened up on how he 'wouldn't have the life he has without A. J. Styles: "So, for people who don't know, A. J., actually A. J.'s wife, said that I should get the shot at ‘Bound for Glory’ to wrestle him and Tomko, because I had trained with A. J., he needed people to help get some sweat going because he was coming off a run with [Christopher] Daniels as Tag Champions, going back into singles. This is before (Consequences Creed). So my buddy Sal Rinauro calls me and he says 'Hey, A. J. needs some bodies to bump around'. I was working at a daycare that summer, and I called my boss, she was my teacher when I was little, so she knew I wanted to be a wrestler. She knew I was on the independents, I said 'I have a chance to wrestle with this guy, he's like my favorite wrestler, I need a week off'. She's like 'Go. Use that week and train with A. J.' Months down the road, they're having this match at ‘Bound for Glory’. It's him and Tomko against [R] Truth and Pac-Man Jones. Pac-Man Jones can't wrestle because of the NFL contract, so they need somebody who can be in the match. So A. J.'s wife, as she's thinking about people, she's like, 'Oh, that guy was really nice, why don't you give him a shot?' And they gave me a shot, sight unseen, to wrestle at their ‘WrestleMania’, against A. J.. And from that I got a contract. From that I got into WWE. From that made New Day. From that I'm sitting here talking to you. So, without A. J. sticking his neck out for me, I don't know if I have the life that I have now. So that's somebody that is very important to me. That's real life. Now, on the show, the things that he has done that I can't really condone, he's not a super great guy in that aspect, clearly being rude to New Day, being rude to Kofi [Kingston] and myself. Other than that, I think that he is the greatest to ever do it. He is my favorite wrestler of all time, and it was very hard seeing his last match, but I'm glad I was there for it."

The latest WWE Vault content includes an unseen match between A. J. Styles and Johnny Gargano from France in 2024, the 2013 Elimination Chamber match featuring Jack Swagger (w/ Zeb Colter), the World Heavyweight Title Elimination Chamber match from 2010 featuring John Morrison, and the Coliseum Home Video release “Terminators ‘96” featuring Shawn Michaels & Diesel vs. The British Bulldog & Yokozuna.

WWE uploaded the full Ethan Page vs. Myles Borne NXT main event from last week’s “NXT”, where Borne defeated Page to become the new NXT Men’s North American Champion.

Mick Foley made an Instagram story post agreeing with The Undertaker about Chelsea Green being underutilized in WWE: “In total agreement with @undertaker on this. @chelseagreen is a star.”

Mick Foley posted this on Instagram: “MOVIE DEAL FOR MICK? I’m very happy about my meeting with a top Hollywood exec about turning one of my stories into a movie. This is a separate project from the biopic that’s in the works – a unique story based on real life experiences. I might even get to portray myself!…have a nice day!”

Raj Dhesi (aka Jinder Mahal) was backstage at a recent NWA taping in Tampa, FL.

Charlotte Flair wished her father Ric a happy 77th birthday: “Happy Birthday Dad @RicFlairNatrBoy I love you big as the sky”.

Ric Flair remembered his late son Reid on what would have been Reid’s 38th birthday: “Not A Day Goes By Where We Don’t Think About You Big Man! We All Know You Are In A Better Place, But It Doesn’t Make The Pain Ever Go Away. Reid, We Are All Remembering You Today On Your Birthday! Love & Miss You!”

Jerry Lawler, former wrestler and WWE commentator, confessed what he was actually doing before suffering the stroke that almost ended his life: “Lauryn McBride and I were expressing our love for each other in a certain way. I got up, then I realized that nothing I was saying sounded right. She looked at me and said, 'Oh my God, Jerry, go look at yourself in the mirror.'” After this, his girlfriend rushed him to a hospital, where they were able to stabilize him and save his life. “It was a pretty terrifying situation. I was informed that the blood loss was occurring in the cognitive part of my brain, which controls your speech and part of your memory, so at that moment I couldn’t say anything.”
