NEWS
According to PWInsider, the Women’s Royal Rumble was produced by Kenny Dykstra, Tyson Kidd, Petey Williams, and Jason Jordan. The Men’s Royal Rumble was produced by Michael Hayes, Bobby Roode, Shane Helms, and Jamie Noble.

With A. J. Styles losing to Gunther at “Royal Rumble” in a match with A. J.’s career on the line, he is forced to retire from WWE. However, there are rumors swirling that once A. J.’s WWE contract expires in February, he will sign with either TNA or AEW. Adding fuel to that rumor is that after A. J. lost, he took off his gloves and began to leave them on the mat, but put them back on.

A. J. Styles was a guest on the “What’s Your Story?” podcast with Stephanie McMahon this past week and McMahon asked him about removing the gloves and then putting them back on following his loss at “Royal Rumble”. Styles admitted that he doesn’t even know why he put the gloves back on but said that every wrestler has a right to come out of retirement at least once. “Never say never, right? That’s the saying. I know there’s…I think everybody’s allowed at least once coming out of retirement,” Styles replied. “I’m not saying that I’ll do it anytime soon. I mean, what if my son wrestles? The opportunity to tag with him once. You never know. There’ll be a time when the gloves never go back on and it may be now, but we’ll see.” Styles then went on to reveal that his second oldest son is currently interested in becoming a pro wrestler and trains with him and said that his daughter and oldest son might get into it too. It’s only his youngest son who has no interest in wrestling. He added that he didn’t think there would be a time where he would want his kids to be wrestlers, but the business is different and better than it was during his time. “It’s done right at this point. So I’d be happy if they wrestled,” Styles told McMahon. The episode also included comments from his wife and fellow WWE Superstars, who explained what Styles meant to them. The 1 hour 45 minute podcast is streaming now on YouTube and other podcasts apps.

A. J. Styles says he squeezed Xavier Woods the hardest of anyone in the locker room after his final WWE match at the “Royal Rumble”. He said "I was fine, I was A. J. Styles all the way from the end of the match, all the way to when I got to the back. First person I hugged was Chris Park, Abyss, and then so on, and [C. M.] Punk, I hugged everyone there and it was great. As soon as I walked around to leave, it freaking hit me. Then you see me power walking, a little bit of running, to get to where they were stacking the bags, because that just made it my locker room and I thought I shut the door, didn’t shut it apparently, so I just had my back to the door and I’m kinda trying not to (cry) like the biggest baby in the world. And Shane Helms comes up and kind of grabs me and he said, ‘It’s alright, you’re good man, you don’t have to turn your back.’ It meant so much for him to come up and see me. Then Jolene our seamstress comes up and she’s hugging on me. Then Xavier comes up and I probably squeezed him the hardest because I’ve known him for so long and seeing him do so well in so many different things, it was a special moment. I squeezed him hard, he’s my guy. I squeezed a lot of people hard that night, it's like you said (Stephanie McMahon) we might not be able to talk to each other like we used to but when we see each other it’s like no time is passed. We still know each other, it’ll still be the biggest hug. I’ll miss that I really will. So let's hope I find a way to stay connected."

Recent WWE Vault additions include an unseen A. J. Styles vs. Kevin Owens match from a house show on July 7, 2017 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY; The Twin Towers (Akeem & The Big Bossman) vs. The Mega Powers (Randy Savage & Hulk Hogan) from the February 3, 1989 “Saturday Night’s Main Event” at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI including The Mega Powers split; and Cactus Jack, Chainsaw Charlie, Steve Austin, & Owen Hart vs. Savio Vega & D-Generation X (Triple H & The New Age Outlaws [Jesse James & Billy Gunn]) in a Non-Sanctioned Match from “No Way Out of Texas: In Your House” on February 15, 1998 at the Compaq Center in Houston, TX

On a recent appearance on “What Do You Wanna Talk About”, hosted by Cody Rhodes, The Undertaker was asked between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, which of the two fellow WWE Hall of Famers he preferred working with in the ring. While acknowledging he could not go wrong with either choice, Undertaker said his chemistry with Michaels stood above the rest. “I probably had the very best chemistry with Shawn,” The Undertaker said, before offering high praise for Michaels’ ability. “Shawn may be the only guy I’ve ever known that could have a five-star match with a broomstick. I mean, he’s just that talented.”

Parade Magazine listed the top 14 WWE wrestlers of all time and coming in at #1 was Ric Flair. Others on the list included Shawn Michaels at #7, Andre the Giant at #12, and Roddy Piper at #14.

Ric Flair announced he’s in talks to return for one more match, at 76 years old. He said “Somebody wants me to wrestle Ricky Morton now, so I’m easily thinking about it. It’s not that far from happening but still way off on financial terms, of course. Sometimes I need something to motivate me, man. Not just to go to the gym every day for nothing.”

During an interview on “Off the Ropes”, Karl Anderson revealed he and Doc Gallows will return to Pro Wrestling NOAH in April. To listen to the show, click here.

Oklafan congratulates Devion Black for surpassing 6 months as TexPro Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Franco D’Angelo for the title on August 2, 2025 at an event in Ardmore.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Frankie Cain, who also competed as Mephisto and The Great Mephisto. He passed away February 2nd at the age of 93. Cain, whose real name was James Ault, began training as a teenager at The Toehold Club. He was booked on shows at the age of 15, but also competed as a boxer, usually working as Jimmy Martin or Schoolboy Martin. His big break came in the late 1950s when promoter Al Haft got him on some shows in Ohio. By 1959, Cain was booked by Cowboy Luttral in Florida where he was reunited with Eddie Graham. He got the name Frankie Cain from Lee Fields when he was booked in Mobile, AL. For the first half of the 1960s, Cain was booked in many places, including Oklahoma. From 1962 to 1965, Cain came and went from this state, working for Leroy McGuirk. By February 1966, Cain went to Mexico where he donned a mask and became one of The Infernos tag team. Two years of that had Cain working out of the NWA-SW territory in Amarillo, which often promoted shows in Guymon, OK. The year 1968 saw another masked identity as Mephisto with his tag team partner Dante. This also saw a return to Oklahoma in 1971 and a run through the beginning of 1972, with sporadic appearances until 1974. But that masked gimmick also led to an unmasked gimmick of a similar name: The Great Mephisto. This was an Arab gimmick, reminiscent of his cousin, Skandar Akbar, and the last great in-ring gimmick of his time before an automobile accident forced him out of action in 1974. He tried to return to the ring later that year in October, but the pain was too great. However the next great step of his career began as Cain was invited to book the Australian territory. There he would meet his future wife and this venture allowed him to go back and book Florida for a time and then book opposition to TSW in Jackson, MS. He worked as a manager, but perhaps his biggest influence at this time was being the first person to team Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy together (without the Freebird name yet) and help start the careers of Paul Moody (aka Paul Bearer) and Sugar Bear Harris (aka Kamala). Cain was so well-thought of that even though he booked opposition shows to TSW, George Culkin (the promoter in Mississippi, who worked for Bill Watts & Leroy McGuirk) invited him to come book Mississippi for TSW, but then Watts double-crossed McGuirk, putting McGuirk and Cain out of business there and taking control himself. Cain made one more run as The Great Mephisto, doing a tour of Japan and booking Northern California in early 1981 before retiring and concentrating on a bar he opened, though he would book some spot shows in the area with old-time workers that he knew. In 2020, he released his autobiography Raising Cain: From Jimmy Ault to Kid McCoy. Well loved by virtually everyone who met him, Cain's legacy is carried on by those who came up under him and learned the business from someone with a very keen mind for creativity. In total, Cain appeared on 68 Oklahoma cards at the time of this writing. The earliest was on February 19, 1962, where he defeated the Russian Angel at a TSW event in Tulsa, OK. The last was on October 28, 1974 where he faced Terry Latham on a TSW event in Tulsa. The result of that match is not known.

Brian Linder of PennLive.com wrote a story about Frankie Cain's passing entitled "Pro wrestling legend dead at 93: ‘A true master of the ring’"l, which you can read on Yahoo Sports by clicking here.
