NEWS
Last night, The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) became the first WWE tag team to compete at “Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport” event as announced by Barnett on Tuesday. Neither man had competed in the unique format before. The two hadn’t wrestled since the July 7th episode of “WWE Main Event” and had competed just three times since June 1st. The “Bloodsport” shows have seen an increased WWE presence in the last year with Natalya, Pete Dunne, and Charlie Dempsey being previously announced.
The original card for “WrestleMania 41”, which was discussed for weeks during the “WWE: Unreal” docuseries had 14 matches but out of the 14 that were being worked on, only two ended up being on the final card. The show did end up having 14 matches – seven on Saturday and seven on Sunday – but the card looked totally different than the one the WWE creative team were shooting for. Injuries, unexpected reactions, and just general change of direction altered the majority of the card. Only Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena and Logan Paul vs. A. J. Styles ended up going from the whiteboard to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. The other 12 matches which were proposed included Gunther vs. C. M. Punk for the World Title, Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair for the Women’s World Title, Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Title, Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair vs. Iyo Sky & Asuka for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, Jey Uso vs. Damian Priest vs. Sheamus vs. Sami Zayn vs. Bronson Reed vs. Ludwig Kaiser in a Ladder Match for the WWE Intercontinental Title, L. A. Knight vs. Jimmy Uso vs. Andrade vs. Santos Escobar vs. Solo Sikoa vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Ladder Match for the WWE United States Title, Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens, The Wyatt Sicks vs. The Judgment Day in a 10-Person Mixed Tag Team Match, Bad Bunny vs. Dominik Mysterio, Bron Breakker vs. Drew McIntyre with Steve Austin as special guest referee, and Rey Mysterio vs. Chad Gable. “WWE Unreal” is streaming now worldwide on Netflix.
The WWE has released their ranking of the greatest SummerSlam matches ever. Coming in at #1 was Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog from “SummerSlam 1992”. Among others listed were:
2. A. J. Styles vs. John Cena (2016)
7. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H (2002)
9. Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (1995)
As seen during the April 4th edition of “WWE Friday Night SmackDown”, there was an in-ring promo battle between WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Statton and Charlotte Flair. According to X account @WrestleVotes, the women said “very little of what was in the rundown for them” and they allegedly went “off script quite a bit.” While being interviewed by Ariel Helwani, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair reflected on the segment: “I’m embarrassed for her, and I’m not going to say anymore. I don’t want it to affect anything. That was the cheapest sh*t I’ve ever heard in my life. Whatever it was [work or shoot], it was hurtful. If it was a shoot, that’s even worse. Because that’s nothing to joke about.”
“The Battleground Podcast” interviewed Karrion Kross, which you can view by clicking here.
Becky Lynch and Mick Foley will be appearing in an upcoming episode of the Nickelodeon show “Wylde Pak”.
Mick Foley and Sonya Deville (under the name Daria Berenato) are in a movie that is shooting now called “The Heart Brake”. Hunter Sansone is the lead.
