Family-friendly wrestling is coming back to Green Country this weekend, and it’s all for a good cause.
Wrestling for a Cause is hosting an event Saturday, July 12, at the Property Event Center in Broken Arrow. The show raises money for children fighting cancer and features appearances from big-name professional wrestlers.
What is Wrestling for a Cause?
“Basically 14 years ago we started this company of our little boy that was fighting brain cancer,” said Tim Rockwell, also known in the ring as The Constant. “We saw this and I was like, you know what? I know wrestling, that's all I know. Let me try to help raise money.”
“It happened and like the more more we did him, the more families reached out more. So now we're at 14 years. I want to say 170 events. Over $300,000 raised for families. That's not all cancer. Some of it was fighting for our veterans and stuff like that. But we return back to our normal cause, which is children fighting cancer.”
The event is family-friendly, with all wrestlers available for autographs, photos, and handshakes.
“You're more likely gonna be able to have a better time because every single superstar will sign you an autograph, will shake your hand, hug you, take a picture with you, you know?”
Who will be there?
“We got Rhino and Heath, which are former WWE Tag Team Champions and TNA Tag Team Champions,” Rockwell said. “And then I reached out to the one and only, the real one, Enzo Amore.”
“Once I explain the cause to them, they would say, say less, get me a flight, and I'm there.”
