Admirals Set Tribute To Wrestling Day
Posted: Jan 24th 2008 By: CMBurnham
Milwaukee, WI--Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that five famous (and infamous) wrestling legends will be attending the February 10th game versus the Peoria Rivermen at 4:00 pm at the Bradley Center in the team's annual "Tribute to Wrestling Day." Making appearances will be "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Jimmy Hart, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Scotty 2 Hotty and the Iron Sheik.
Professional wrestling has been a family affair for "Cowboy" Bob Orton, who was a 2005 inductee to the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame. His father Bob "The Big O" Orton wrestled professionally until 2000, and his son Randy is the current reigning WWE champion. Orton is most widely remembered for the "Superplex", a move he made famous and used to end nearly all of his matches. Since his beginning in professional wrestling Orton has teamed up with his father and son, most notably when he aided his son in taking on The Undertaker at the WWE's Armageddon 2005.
Jimmy Hart has been a jack of all trades in the world of professional wrestling. Hart's impressive resume includes involvement with the World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling, Continental Wrestling Association, United States Wrestling Association, and the X Wrestling Federation. Hart has also managed some of the biggest names in wrestling including Hulk Hogan, The Iron Sheik, Bret Hart, Jerry "The King" Lawler, "Ravishing" Rick Rude and Randy Savage. He is a two-time winner of Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Manager of the Year and a 2006 inductee to the World Class Wrestling Association Hall of Fame.
Jerry "The King" Lawler has the distinction of winning more titles than other competitor in professional wrestling. He is currently signed to WWE Raw where he was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2007. Lawler is infamous for his feud with the Hart Family, which exploded at SummerSlam 1993. After the turbulent match, Lawler was awarded the title of "Undisputed King of the World Wrestling Federation." Lawler's fans remember him most for his signature pain inflicting moves including the "Spike Piledrive" and "Brainbuster."
Scotty 2 Hotty, born Scott Garland, made his first appearance with the WWF in 1991 teaming up with Sonny Blaze. By the late nineties, Garland had joined with "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher and the pair, known collectively as "Too Cool," became famous for their insulting raps aimed at opponents and parodies of hip hop culture. In 2004, Garland was a member of the WWE Tag Team Championship duo, as well as the Wrestlemania XX Four Way Tag Team match later that year. Garland is remembered for "The Worm," a chop drop-like move which renders his opponents unconscious.
Iranian born Hossein Khosrow Vaziri is better known to his fans as "The Iron Sheik", a 2005 inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame. Khosrow made his debut in professional wrestling in 1979, the same year he won the first ever Battle Royal at Madison Square Garden. He is most famous for ending the reign of six time WWF Champion Bob Backlund and popularizing the "Camel Clutch." Since his debut, Khosrow has won 15 professional wrestling titles. Outside of the world of professional wrestling, Khosrow has served as a bodyguard to the Shah of Iran.
All five wrestlers will be available before the game to meet with fans and sign autographs. Fans can purchase tickets for any Admirals game by calling Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
