The Von Erichs Are In Talks With Both AEW And WWE

A lot of attention has come to the Von Erich family this past year thanks to the critically acclaimed A24 film about them, The Iron Claw, starring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White. It's a tragic story, with nearly every brother dying much too young, but one brother, Kevin, made it through the curse and lived. He had two sons, Marshall and Ross, who became wrestlers themselves. The siblings have wrestled a few impressive matches in AEW, but their father has revealed that they are in negotiations to sign not just with AEW, but perhaps with WWE too.
Kevin Von Erich Says His Sons Are Deciding Between AEW & WWE
Marshall and Ross Von Erich have made a few appearances in AEW the past year, although they are not officially signed with Tony Khan's promotion. Just last weekend, on Collision, the brothers, along with their father, had a backstage segment with Dustin Rhodes.
In an interview with Third League Radio, Kevin Von Erich spoke of Ross and Marshall's future, saying:
"My sons love it. I’m for all the businesses, WWE, AEW, and all the new companies coming up, I want them all to do well. But I especially have a good feeling about AEW...
"I don’t know what I can say or can’t say. I know they are in negotiations right now. They’re talking to different people. I know that it’s a great day, and great days are coming. I love the AEW mentality and the way they are, and they’ve got great catering, too [laughs]. WWE, them too, nothing against them, but I really like AEW. That’s kind of where I’m leaning right now, but it’s up to the boys, so we’ll just see. We’ll find out." (h/t Fightful )
Marshall & Ross Von Erich Aren't The Only Ones Who Followed The Family Path
You have to think that AEW would have the upper hand in signing the Von Erichs. The company has often celebrated the family, while WWE rarely mentions them and did nothing with The Iron Claw. In an interview last year, Triple H didn't sound too excited about the idea. Still, WWE is the biggest show in the world, and their uncle, Kerry Von Erich, once worked for WWE as the Texas Tornado, even becoming Intercontinental Champion.
Marshall and Ross Von Erich aren't the only offspring of the famous brothers to become wrestlers either. Kerry's daughter, Lacey, once wrestled in TNA for a short time. No matter where the former MLW Tag Team Champions sign, let's hope that they're given a chance to be more than just the connection to their last name.
