Goldberg refers to Bret Hart as ‘the moron I kicked in the head’ in new interview

Posted: Jun 2nd 2024 By: Sean Rueter

For those new to the wrestle web, a brief explainer: Bret Hart believes that Bill Goldberg ended his career with a poorly executed kick to the head during a WCW match the two legends had in 1999. And to this day, The Hitman repeatedly reminds the world just how unsafe and generally awful he thinks Goldberg was as a professional wrestler.

Goldberg’s attempts at apologies and explanations haven’t changed this, so he doesn’t pull any punches when talking about Hart either. Case in point, he managed to work it into a follow-up on the Von Erichs’ new podcast after he said Hulk Hogan is one of two people he calls for “fatherly advice” (the other is bodybuilding icon C.T. Fletcher).

Ross & Marshall Von Erich’s co-host Eric Carroll says that modern fans don’t appreciate Hogan’s contributions to the business, and Bill responded:

“You saw how easily it was that people forgot about me, and the fact that I’d go out there and absolutely smash people and then leave, and now that the audacity to think that any of these morons could stand two seconds with me.

“It’s funny that people’s identities get wiped away quite quickly. And... the current generation and the next, they’re completely dependent upon on what people tell them and what they see on the internet. And it’s a shame that these morons that didn’t feel the excitement or can understand the excitement when my music hit, when I blow smoke out of my nose, and — nine times out of ten — you really have to question whether I was hurting the guy. And that’s the fine line that you have gotta walk.

“Granted, unfortunately, a couple times: Steiner, I’m not even gonna mention his name — the moron I kicked in the head. But unfortunately things like that happen. It’s a rough business. As long as there’s not malicious intent, I mean, hey bro, you’re in the wrong business if you bitch and moan about getting slapped or getting punched errantly. It’s just a different day and age, it just is.”
