NEWS
The December 22nd episode of “AEW Rampage” from Oklahoma City averaged 363,000 viewers on TNT, up 17.9% from the previous week. It's the largest audience total for the show since October 13th. “Rampage” drew a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo. That's up 25% from last week (which was a record low for the regular time slot of “Rampage”) and ties the second-highest rating the show has done in the demo since November 10th. According to Wrestlenomics, “Rampage” opened strong at over 400,000 viewers for the Orange Cassidy vs. Rocky Romero International Title Match and dropped heavily after the first quarter. That said, the 18-49 rating stayed steady throughout the show and actually peaked for the main event featuring El Hijo del Vikingo and Black Taurus. As compared to the same week in 2022, “Rampage” was down 35.9% in overall viewers and down 44.4% in 18-49.

Wrestling veteran Sting is set to have his retirement match at the 2024 “AEW Revolution” pay-per-view event. During an interview with “Steve & Captain Evil”, Bill Goldberg talked about Sting saying “Sting is the reason why I broke into the business. Sting set a great example. He’s about to retire. I tried to be part of his retirement match. I would not have chosen to get into the world of professional wrestling if it wasn’t for Sting. He was a normal dude who went out and did abnormal things. Wrestling is like being in the circus, it truly is. I never looked at it with much respect, but after I watched him from afar, I realized that I had the ability to go do it. He was not only a performer. He had self-respect and he commanded respect. He’s one of the best human beings on the planet and he set an example for me and I just tried to grab it and run with it and make him proud. I had the best time of my life in the ring with Sting.” Earlier in 2023, there was talk of Sting possibly being part of a Goldberg retirement event.

Goldberg isn’t mincing words anymore when it comes to his opinion of Vince McMahon. While he was a recent guest on “Steve & Captain Evil”, Gioldberg was asked for his thoughts on Vince McMahon, and he didn’t hold back on his true feelings for the former owner of WWE. “Vince is like Dana White,” Goldberg said. “He’s the big boss, and he makes everything happen, and in all honesty, he gave me the opportunity to put my wife and son on the front row and gave me the ability to perform again in front of them. So, I owe him everything, until we went to Saudi Arabia, and he asked me to put Roman Reigns over, and I had COVID. I remember calling him from my house and said, ‘Listen, here is the deal. I’ll do it if you give me a retirement match.’ I did what he asked. As a performer, I was 56 years old. As a human being, you’re conscientious about how you look in a bathing suit, especially two months prior to being in that bathing suit; you couldn’t work out because you had COVID. I put myself in a horribly shitty situation to get what I wanted to, but to satiate him and give him what he wanted. Problem is, he never held up his bargain. Vince is a piece of shit as far as I’m concerned.”

With the release of “The Iron Claw” movie, VICE has put part one of its two part series on The Von Erichs up for free.

“The Iron Claw” movie, featuring the story of the Von Erich family, had a domestic weekend of $7,533,626 at the box office, coming in sixth on the chart according to Box Office Mojo. The movie is currently in 2,774 theaters across the nation. Opening day on December 22nd had a total of $2,496,600, followed by $1,553,440 on Saturday, $1,009,736 on Sunday, and Christmas Day saw a total of $2,473,850 in box office receipts. The film features Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich, Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich, Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich, Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich and Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich. The Iron Claw had a budget of $16 million. Current AEW World Champion M. J. F. is credited as an Executive Producer of the film.

"The Iron Claw" is now playing around the world in theaters and more people are learning about the famed Von Erich family. Kevin Von Erich, who is the only sibling alive today, recently spoke to Chris Jericho on "Talk Is Jericho" about how the film doesn't accurately depict their father Fritz. "Yeah, Chris, I know exactly what they're talking about," Von Erich said of the pressure his family felt to live up to the family name. "First, with this movie coming out, I'd like people to know that it's a movie. It's made for entertainment. It's not quite as historical, but I'll tell you my dad was a great man. I loved him so much. He was an honorable, good man. What he said, his word was his bond. When you shook his hand, it was a contract, it was honorable. I want everyone to know he comes off pretty rank in this movie." He continued, "You would think that the pressure that Fritz put on us is why my brothers would commit suicide. I mean, why would anyone commit suicide, that is so far beyond me, but it's drugs. Drugs did it. That, and the fact that Kerry lost his foot and wouldn't be able to come back. Mike, with that fever, he was not coming back. It was a hopeless feeling inside to let everyone down and you just feel like dirt. All my brothers were super loyal, and that's what it was, the shame and guilt for failing. It was not my dad."

Tyrus will be hosting a New Year's Eve special on FOX News and Ric Flair will be a special guest.

Mick Foley and Raven have been added to The Gathering in Charlotte, NC the first weekend of August. There will be a tribute to World Class featuring Kevin Von Erich, Brian Adias, Rod Price, John Tatum, and Nord the Barbarian. Missy Hyatt is also scheduled and Angelo Mosca, Jr. is scheduled to honor his father.

Oklafan congratulates John E. Rock on the birth of his son Henry on December 26th.

Oklafan extends condolences to Jack Davenport on the passing of his aunt last week.
