There are rumors floating around that Fuego del Sol may be headed to Impact Wrestling.

WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard says he's no longer a fan of the “Dark Side of the Ring” series. Prichard was a part of the first season of the VICE TV series, covering topics such as Randy Savage & Miss Elizabeth and the Montreal Screwjob. However, he now says he won't appear in the series moving forward and notes that he dislikes how they present stories. When asked about the recent Marty Jannetty episode on his “Something to Wrestle” podcast, Prichard explained why he takes umbrage with how the show tells stories. “I can't watch those things. I think they dwell on negativity, lies, bullshit, and hearsay, and they exploit that," Bruce said. "So much of it is based on rumor and innuendo and just complete 100% bullshit. The producers do their homework to the extent that satisfies them. When you dispute their homework and give them facts that don't support their story and narrative, they choose to ignore it. "That is why I have not done anything since the first ones that I did for the first season, and I will never do anything with them again because I do not like the way that they present stories because they're only looking for negativity to exploit, and in my old age, I learn there's a lot more than negativity”.

Oklafan extends condolences J. R. Orullian and Brendan Orullian on the passing of their mother on August 20th.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Eddie Adamson, who passed away August 25th at the age of 53. At the time of this writing, no cause of death has been revealed, though he had been under medical care for some time. Adamson was a career police officer and had been employed at some point as the head of security for Power Pro Wrestling in Tennessee. He became the General Manager of IWR in 2014 and handled duties in the ring with the same level of authority that he handled things outside the ring in uniform. Adamson was only involved in the business for a couple of years, but he was highly respected by the IWR roster and his absence will be felt.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Abe Jacobs, who passed away August 21st. He was 95, and at the time of his death, he was believed to be the oldest living former pro wrestler. Jacobs, whose full name was Abner Robert Jacobs, was born in New Zealand and began competing at the amateur level, winning 7 provincial titles before becoming New Zealand Champion. He tried out for the 1956 Olympic team, but lost out to another wrestler by one point. After failing to make the Olympic team, Jacobs turned pro and made his debut in 1958, facing his trainer, The Zebra Kid, in the main event of his first card when Kid's opponent, George McKay, did not show up. It was during this first match that Jacobs would invent the hold that he made famous: The Kiwi Roll. After about a dozen matches, Jacobs made his way to Hawaii and eventually caught the eye of promoters like Vince McMahon, Sr. and Jim Crockett, Jr. Upon entering the United States, promoters billed him as the "Jewish Heavyweight Champion", helping to give him sympathy when he faced wrestlers with Nazi German personas. As a result of one of those matches, an FBI investigation followed and there were phone calls and hate mail sent to the local TV studio when Jacobs' opponent told him he needed to start saying "The Kaddish", the Jewish prayer for the dead. In 1960, Jacobs would make history when he competed against NWA World Champion Pat O'Connor in New York, marking the first time two New Zealanders had competed against each other for that title outside of New Zealand. Jacobs would go to on to compete in virtually every territory in the United States, but had much more financial success competing internationally, where sometimes he would get as much as 25% of the gate. At the end of his career, he had competed in over 25 countries and had over 8000 matches. Jacobs competed on 5 documented Oklahoma cards. His earliest match was September 20, 1976, where he defeated Pat McGinnis at a TSW event in Tulsa. And his last was March 28, 1977, where he lost to Sylvester Ritter (aka the Junkyard Dog) at another TSW event in Tulsa.

Steven Johnson of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about the passing of Abe Jacobs, which you can read by clicking here.

Oklafan extends condolences to Barry Windham on the passing of his nephew Windham Rotunda, who competed as pro wrestler Bray Wyatt, on August 24th.

The professional wrestling community paid tribute to Bray Wyatt in the wake of his unexpected death on August 24th at the age 36. Dozens of stars have posted their memories of and tributes to Wyatt on social media following his passing on Thursday, including some of the biggest names in the history of the industry:

Ric Flair: When Your Great Friend And Someone Your Son’s Age Dies Within 2 Days, It Really Makes Me Reflect & Think About Life! Don’t Take Any Second For Granted! Rest In Peace Terry Funk & Bray Wyatt!

Mick Foley: RIP BRAY WYATT. This is awful news, just terribly sad for his family, friends and fans. I thought so highly of Bray Wyatt, and was so flattered when he started using the mandible claw for his finisher. He was a true visionary; one of the most compelling presences that wrestling has ever seen.

Jake Roberts: Bray Wyatt is one of the most talented young wrestlers to ever come down the line. My heart goes out to his family. Rest in peace.

WWE Superstars Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Braun Strowman, Shotzi, and WWE Director of Longterm Creative Rob Fee all got the Bray Wyatt logo tattooed on their body yesterday. Kross uploaded a video of the tattoos being etched as well as a group photo with the crew from Deep Search Tattoo in Clarksville, IN, located just across the Ohio River from where SmackDown took place in Louisville, KY. "The more he withdrew from the world around him, the more wonderful became his dreams," Kross wrote, quoting American writer H. P. Lovecraft. "For Windham." Strowman, who has been out of action due to neck fusion surgery, was brought to SmackDown specifically for the Bray Wyatt tribute and so was fellow Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Terry Funk, who passed away August 23rd after suffering from dementia. He was 79. Funk was a second generation competitor, son of Dory Funk, Sr. and brother of Dory Funk, Jr. He began his career in 1965 and had his final match in 2017. A comprehensive list of all of Funk's accomplishments would fill novels, and much of what he accomplished was in tandem with his brother. But amongst his solo accomplishments was winning the NWA World Title in 1975 from Jack Brisco after his brother Dory failed to show up for a title match. He would go on to hold the title for 14 months before losing it to Harley Race. Funk also participated in the first Empty Arena Match in 1982 against Jerry Lawler. He had programs with Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Title and Ric Flair for the NWA World Title and while he was not victorious in either program, they are certainly memorable. In 1993, Funk reinvented himself, going from a technical wrestler to a hardcore brawler who was "middle-aged and crazy". Funk would compete in the main event of the first ECW pay-per-view and beat Raven for the ECW World Title. He would venture back to the WWF as Chainsaw Charlie, teaming with Cactus Jack and winning the WWF World Tag Team Titles, though they would lose the belts the next night. Funk would go on to capture the WCW Hardcore Title three times in his career, establishing the record for the wrestler who held that title the most and also won the WCW United States Title once before that company closed. Funk continued to compete on the independent circuit semi-regularly until 2011, then returned in 2017, teaming with The Rock-N-Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) to defeat Jerry Lawler, Doug Gilbert, and Brian Christopher by DQ in his final match. Funk competed on 8 documented Oklahoma wrestling cards. The earliest was an NWA World Title defense against Greg Valentine in a No DQ Match at a TSW event in Tulsa. No result from that match is known. His final Oklahoma event was an IZW event in Lawton where he lost to Jerry Lawler on September 16, 2006.

WWE honored both Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt on Friday on a special episode of “WWE Friday Night SmackDown” on Fox. The broadcast started with an “In Memory Of” graphic featuring both Funk and Wyatt and that led to the whole WWE roster, including officials, on the top of the stage as the camera panned to show the fireflies. Michael Cole then took over and explained how the WWE lost two of its family members and SmackDown would be a tribute to both men and invited everyone to join for a ten-bell salute. Triple H stood front and center and was flanked by Cody Rhodes, and Wyatt Family members Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan, who now has the unfortunate distinction of having to go through two tribute shows for both Brodie Lee and Bray Wyatt. Throughout SmackDown, several videos aired of both men's accomplishments in the ring and several WWE Superstars talked about them, including Cody Rhodes who was brought in for an in-ring segment talking about Terry Funk. It was an emotional night for all those involved and the broadcast ended with the arena slowly going to black, a lantern in the middle of the ring, an eerie silhouette of Bray Wyatt, and the WWE Universe honoring Wyatt by showing their fireflies while chanting "Thank you Bray."

The wrestling world is in mourning following the death of legend Terry Funk, who passed away last week at the age of 79. Hailing from the ‘Double Cross Ranch’ in Amarillo, TX, Funk was known to fans worldwide for being ‘middle aged and crazy’ with a charismatic persona and unpredictable in-ring style that spanned all forms of matches. Over the the course of his historic Hall of Fame career, Funk competed for wrestling promotions all over the world, holding multiple singles Championships and tag team gold alongside his brother, Dory, and captivated fans with rivalries against the likes of Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, Sting and many others. Outside the ring, Funk consistently gave back to the business he loved through mentorship, offering his incredible guidance and experience to the next generation of wrestling stars. In addition, Funk made a successful transition to the silver screen, appearing in such films as ‘Road House’ with Patrick Swayze and ‘Over The Top’ alongside Sylvester Stallone. AEW sends its deepest condolences to Funk’s family, friends and fans. His legacy will continue to influence the professional wrestling industry in perpetuity.”

Foley later posted “Terry Funk is gone. I just talked to Terry’s daughter, Brandee, who gave me the awful news. He was my mentor, my idol, one of the closest friends. He was the greatest wrestler I ever saw. If you get the chance, look up a Terry Funk match or a Terry Funk promo, and give thanks that this incredible man gave so much, for so long, to so many. There will never be another like him. May God bless Terry, his friends, family and all who loved him. RIP my dear friend – it was an honor to know you.”

Bret Hart: “The wrestling world lost a true legend in the passing of Terry Funk. I met Terry when I was only 14 years old and he, along with his brother Dory and father Dory Sr., was an immense influence on me. One of the greatest in-ring performers who always brought a distinct realism and imagination to the business. He was as famous for his hard bumps as he was for his brawling, but was a true worker and professional. Few did it better, and this is one loss that pro wrestling will mourn for a very long time. To my friend and mentor, I pray a fast trip and soft landing in wrestling heaven. Thank you for all you gave.”

Mike Tenay: “Terry Funk was everything that’s right about professional wrestling. Everything.”

Lex Luger: “One of a kind. Thank you Terry Funk! You will be greatly missed! Prayers and condolences to his entire family.”

Triple H: “Every night in cities all over the world, Terry Funk left it all in the ring for our business and for the fans. An icon of our industry. My thoughts are with Terry’s family, friends and fans.

Kevin Owens: I don’t really come here ever anymore but I had to today to say that Terry Funk was the absolute best of us and that getting to be in the ring with him 10 years ago is and always will be one of the absolute highlights of my career, bar none. To this day, I still often think back on that night and shake my head in disbelief at the absolute privilege and incredible luck I had to get to be in there with him. The energy and aura that Terry Funk carried with him into the ring that night is something I had never experienced before and have not experienced since, and I’ve been in there with some pretty crazy names…I’ll never forget it. Terry Funk. Forever.

William Regal: “I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Terry Funk. I knew Terry before I came to the US as he came to Europe. A totally incredible, wonderful and lovely man. I have my own treasured tales of times together. My condolences to Terrys family. Rest well.”
