NEWS
Best Buddies International, a global nonprofit organization, and All Elite Wrestling have announced a partnership committed to empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Joining the esteemed lineup of Best Buddies Global Ambassadors are the following AEW stars, who are highly committed to making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities: Paul Wight, Ethan Page, and Willow Nightingale. The collaborative efforts of Best Buddies International, AEW TOGETHER, and the new Global Ambassadors officially launched at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. This annual event unites Best Buddies leaders, volunteers, and community advocates from around the globe to create, lead, and empower the future of the disability rights. Best Buddies International and AEW are dedicated to creating a greater awareness of the infinite abilities people with IDD possess. Together, both organizations aim to create a positive and transformative impact on the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

As previously noted, AEW announcer Jim Ross informed fans that he was “going to step away to heal“ after taking a fall just prior to the debut episode of “Collision”. During his podcast, J. R. commented on his future with the company saying “Tony Khan and I have talked about what I’m going to do going forward, and it looks like I’ll have a shot at getting back on ‘Collision’ on Saturdays. That seems to be my destination, but that could change. I just know that it’s going to be a huge lifestyle change for me because those shows are live on Saturday nights. I’m going to make the ultimate sacrifice [missing Sooners football games]. I’m gonna have to DVR my games. It’s going to restrict how many games I go to live. I’ve even thought about using Jacksonville as my secondary home, which it hasn’t been because of my doctors down there. Instead, I’ve had to come back to Oklahoma, and they’ve got good doctors here.”

Former AEW star Fuego del Sol says that he doesn’t think Tony Khan believed in him like Cody Rhodes did. Fuego del Sol, who left AEW in early July 2023, spoke with Nick Hausman and reflected on his run with the company. “I feel like I have to preface this by saying that Cody Rhodes was a huge help to me when he was there. So the second Cody Rhodes left, I knew things were going to be a little bit more difficult. Cody was a middle man in a lot of ways, but he believed in me and I don’t feel like I ever got that same type of belief from Tony Khan that I got from Cody Rhodes. So, it became more difficult when he left. I had to try and use Q. T. [Marshall], but Q. T. has aspirations of his own and I get it. He’s having to balance everything, he’s in there with Tony Khan when all of these guys are coming in and pitching ideas, he knows how Tony thinks. He would talk to me and maybe calm me down if I was upset or open my eyes if I was confused, so shout out to Q. T. in that respect. But when Cody left, it was much harder to get clear answers I feel like, or at least direct information from Tony Khan unless it was from Q. T.”.

Jeff Jarrett was at a Springfield Lucky Horseshoes minor league baseball game last Saturday night in Springfield, IL. The Lucky Horseshoes is the team he co-owns. He hit a planted fan of the visiting team with a guitar shot.

Rebel [2nd] has a new look dying her hair blonde. She posted on Twitter “never too late to reinvent yourself. Fall in love at 50. Learn to dance at 60. Start a new life at 70. Stop saying you can’t. You can and you should. Dreams don’t have an expiration. #BlondeAmbition #Rebel #BreakTheChain #BreakTheRules”

There have been reports that Bobby Lashley is setting up a stable that will include The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) but MVP and Omos are two other options that could end up in the picture as well.

Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer Gail Kim recently spoke to PWMania.com's Scott Mitchell during “Impact's Press Pass” to promote the company's upcoming UK Tour. Kim addressed the current state of the Impact Wrestling Knockouts division, praising the current roster and what the company is going with them. Kim said, “If you would have told me this when the Knockouts Division started, I would have cried. Knowing how far it has come, and knowing what it really blossomed into, and all the girls, I mean it’s such a solid roster right now. It kind of reminds me of all the different personalities we had when we first started off with Awesome Kong, ODB, and all the different styles. Now we have The Virtuosa, KiLynn King, and Masha Slamovich, just to name a few. “There’s just so much talent on this roster, and I’m so proud of how far they’ve come and what the company is doing with them. We’re really blessed.”

Impact Wrestling has started working towards the 1,000th episode of its flagship show which will be celebrated in White Plains, NY, with a taping on Saturday, September 9th. A lot of former stars are expected to show up for the event and the company has already announced that The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) and Awesome Kong will be part of the broadcast. Sky's last involvement with Impact was in 2016 and she is a former two-time Knockouts Champion and Knockouts Tag Team Champion. Love last wrestled for Impact in 2017 and is a former six-time Knockouts Champion and one-time Knockouts Tag Team Champion. Kong also last wrestled for Impact in 2016 but returned to be inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame in 2021. She is a former two-time Knockouts Champion and former Knockouts Tag Team Champion as well.

Oklafan congratulates Se7en on the birth of his grandson Myles on August 2nd.

Oklafan extends condolences to Elijah Sparks, whose grandmother passed away on July 29th.

Oklafan extends condolences to Kelsey King on the passing of her aunt Rocky on August 4th.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Adrian Street, who passed away on July 24, 2023 after developing sepsis following a bout with colitis. He was 82 years old. Street came from a family involved in the coal mining business, but had no interest in pursuing that, being much more interested in bodybuilding and having a willingness to do whatever it took to get attention. He made his debut in 1957 as Kid Tarzan Jonathan (taken in part from one of his inspirations, Don Leo Jonathan). But the plain persona did nothing for him and eventually, seeing the success that "un-manly" characters like Gorgeous George had, he reinvented himself and started competing under his real name. Presenting himself with great ambiguity regarding his sexual preference, in 1969, Street would partner with Miss Linda to add another level to his character's presentation. In 1981, they carried their act from the United Kingdom to the United States. He initially spent time in Memphis and Florida before coming to Mid-South Wrestling as part of the talent trade between Bill Watts and Jerry Jarrett. Street would use his very unique appearance and style (which included kissing Terry Taylor full on the lips) to win the MSW Television Title on September 26, 1984. He would hold the title until November 7, 1984 when he lost it to Bill Dundee. Street's tenure in MSW didn't last very long, only 4 months, before he returned to Memphis and eventually would settle in the Continental territory, where he would spend basically the rest of his career. After retiring from full-time competition in the ring, he would open the Skull Krushers Wrestling School in Gulf Breeze, FL, which remained open until it was destroyed in 2004 by Hurricane Ivan. He and Linda also founded a wrestling gear business, creating many pieces of clothing for wrestlers, including the outfits that Mick Foley used as Dude Love while feuding with Steve Austin. Outside of wrestling, Street published 7 volumes of his autobiography online and recorded an album. He also was the subject of two documentaries about his life, as well as a featured interviewee in a third documentary. Citing the loss of the wrestling school, the unfriendly weather, and the closing of NWA Wrestle Birmingham, Street moved back to the UK in 2018, where he spent the remainder of his life. Street competed on 4 documented Oklahoma cards. On October 7, 1984, as MSW Television Champion, he lost a non-title match to Tommy Rogers in Tulsa. He was advertised for a match on October 21, 1984 against Terry Taylor in Tulsa, but the result of that match is unknown. He defeated Shawn Michaels on November 18, 1984 in Oklahoma City, and he lost to Terry Taylor on December 2, 1984 in Oklahoma City. Street will be remembered as a fascinating mixture of effeminate presentation and hard-nosed shooter, with other stars such as Goldust and Rico citing him as a huge influence in their presentation.

Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote two stories about Adrian Street’s passing. The first is entitled “‘Exotic’ Adrian Street dead at 82” which you can read by clicking here. The second story is entitled “Wrestling world mourns Adrian Street” which you can read by clicking here.
