Glory Be! The Regime Shows Their Dominance At "Summer Sendoff" Event
Posted: Jun 13th 2023 By: CMBurnham
For months now, the cries of "Glory Be!" and "All Hail" have resounded at the Core events. Since arriving on the scene, Merc and his recruits, Derek James, MajCW Flawless & EPW Champion Logan Knight and Mike Andrews, have strived to spread the word of Merxism to their so-called "Loyalists" in the CPW fanbase. Like many other desperste dictator-types, Merc's autocratic actions and orders have been seen, but often derided as the ravings of a power-mad delusional. Someone who clearly WANTS to be in charge, but knows he can't be.
That all changed this past Friday.
CPW"s summer send-off event opened with a Fatal 4-Way match involving Merc, UWE Champion Cappuccino Jones, WAH Champion Rush Freeman and Rook Tyler. A tremendous opportunity to showcase all these talents and all understood that a victory here would certainly propel them up the ladder towards title contention. Freeman's power, Jones' and Tyler's aerial artistry and Merc's numbers games were all clearly displayed in the course of the match. Merc is no stranger to overwhelming odds, nor is he unfamiliar with overcoming those situations, and he was able to put that knowledge to use to pull out a victory in this match.
Things took an even bigger step-up in the semi-main event. CPW Tag Team Champions The Roll Modelz, Malik Mayfied and Olivier Vegos, put their newly won titles on the line in a Triple Threat Match. Opposing them were Knight & James, typically referred to as Tunnel Vision, though not utilising that name in this instance, and former CPW Tag Team Champions Urban Dominance, Skylar Slice & Drake Gallows. This unexpected duo had captured the titles at the beginning of the year in a Battle Royal, establishing a record as the first intergender Tag Team Champions documented in any Oklahoma company. After fending off several challengers, they were upended in April for the titles. They certainly wanted to prove their superiority and reclaim those belts here. And it appeared that things were headed in that direction. After Slice and Vegos started the match, Slice found herself forced to exit when Vegos tagged out (Oklahoma rules only allow women to compete against other women in OSAA sanctioned matches). Gallows found himself staring at all the other members of the opposing teams at various times before making the tag back to Slice, which brought Vegos back in. After being brutalised by Vegos, Slice made the tag to Gallows, bringing Mayfield back. Gallows hit 2 clotheslines on Mayfield. Mayfield avoided a 3rd and hoisted Gallows for a Fireman's Carry, but Gallows slid down from that and put Mayfield down with a Sit-out Powerbomb, eliminating the Roll Modlez and guaranteeing new champions.
But now, there was an interesting quandry, as theoretically Gallows could not tag Slice into the match. And Gallows once again found himself fighting both members of Tunnel Vision. Gallows was able to temporarily blind Knight and force him to DDT his own partner. He set up James for a Bang-A-Rang moonsault, but missed James, connecting with Knight instead. Gallows then connected with an Enziguri and crawled across the ring, leaping towards Slice to make the tag....
....and Slice stepped to the side and refused it. Then, to the shock of all the fans present, Slice gave the salute of The Regime as James and Knight hit the Splatter Machine and pinned Gallows, winning the CPW Tag Team Titles.
Skylar Slice, co-owner of CPW, roll model to so many aspiring young female wrestlers and wrestling fans, had sold out to the Regime. And the combined membership stood in the middle of the ring, saluting in unison with their leader as they soaked in the hatred from the fans who felt betrayed by their hero.
Oklafan was sent the following statement from Merc, 4 days after the Tag Team title victory.: "“The Regime’s success should come as a surprise to no one. There is a reason I’ve never been beaten in CORE, and since adopting the tenets of Merxism none of my subordinates have fallen by enemy hand either.
It has not gone unnoticed by the masses either. Skylar Slice saw the improvements CORE has undergone since the people chose me to lead the way forward. Her past may be littered with dissident behaviors, but The Exalted Leader offers redemption to any who sincerely seek it. I’m like Christ in that way, but with a much sweeter ass.
I believe Skylar Slice will be an invaluable member of The Regime going forward. Combine that with the ever improving teamwork of Derek and Logan and soon the many writhing, grasping, tentacles of The Regime will ensnare every bit of dissidence that’s left in this wretched state. Mike Andrews is nice to have around as well.
The future of wrestling is bright with me at the helm. And with CORE as my flagship the revolution can begin in earnest. There are many dues to be paid and dissidents to be shunned. But you don’t become a 10x Oklafan Wrestler of the Year like me by not being able to get things done.
Glory Be!”
Editor's note: Merc has NEVER been voted Oklafan Wrestler of the Year
For many, the summer is time of recovery, celebration and enjoyment. And that certainly is true for The Regime. With their claws now sunk deeply into the fabric of CPW, where might they spread their message next?
