NEWS
Mae Young is an icon in the wrestling business having begun her career in the midst of World War II and sharing the ring with the likes of the great Mildred Burke, but in later life as part of WWE, things got weird and fast. Mae Young and The Fabulous Moolah were introduced to a whole new generation of fans when they were introduced to WWE during the Attitude Era. Moolah even recaptured the WWE Women’s Title at "No Mercy 1999" while Young was best known for her off-the-wall exploits. Young was famously powerbombed off the stage and through tables by Bubba Ray Dudley at the age of 77 and at "Royal Rumble 2000" she crashed the swimsuit contest before exposing her breasts to a jubilant Madison Square Garden crowd. At "WrestleMania 22", peculiar behaviour was on display again as Booker T attempted to make his way to the ring to face The Boogeyman. Booker T and Queen Sharmell came across a host of “freaks” from the past and present of WWE and in the middle of it all was Mae Young getting her toes sucked by Gene Snitsky. Snitsky, who was no stranger to downright odd behavior on WWE television, explained on the "Cheap Heat Productions" podcast, that Young couldn’t get enough of the tongue-on-tootsies action. He said “I sucked Mae Young’s toes backstage at WrestleMania! What more can you ask for? And she loved every minute of it. I don’t have to practice. My wife will tell you, I’m a professional foot connoisseur. For the record, Mae Young wanted more. She insisted I keep going but I had to stop when they yelled cut.” Mae Young was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 and she made her last appearance on WWE television – with shoes on – in 2013 when the company celebrated her 90th birthday just eight months before her death.

The WWE on A&E block this week had two "Biography" episodes, on Jerry "The King" Lawler and Paige, and a "Rivals" episode featuring Trish Stratus vs Lita. All shows aired against NCAA coverage. The Lawler episode of "Biography" which aired first, drew 350,000 viewers and a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demo, placing #38 on the chart.

Dave Hillhouse of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about A&E's "Biography" episode on Jerry Lawler that you can read by clicking here.

Matches added to WWE’s YouTube this past week included A. J. Styles vs. Seth Rollins from the March 21, 2022 episode of "WWE Monday Night RAW".

Word is that current NXT Champion Bron Breakker will debut on the main roster after WrestleMania. Breakker is the son of Rick Steiner.

On the "Smack Talk" podcast, Dutch Mantell had this to say about Bray Wyatt’s situation. “He is allegedly injured, correct? What’s the matter with him? I think his feelings are hurt. Well, that’s a really good way to cover it but I think, and I’ve said this before, I think they kind of gave Bray creative license over his character and his way of treading into the show but it didn’t work. It didn’t work and I think they are going to have to take him back to the shop and overhaul him and try another way because this Fun House crap I never liked it anyway but I think he has not only failed but failed big time.”

In a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez, AEW head Tony Kahn talked about Bill Goldberg’s free agency, “Bill is an exceptionally exciting name and one of the biggest names in the sport. It’s certainly a big thing for us to pay attention to…It’s interesting.” Goldberg recently commented his WWE commitment is completed.

AEW announced last week an exclusive partnership with The Feldman Agency and Tourbo Entertainment, Canada's leading live entertainment companies. The partnership will bring AEW's new live event series, "AEW House Rules", to local venues across North America and provide fans with a spectacular and engaging environment. In addition, The Feldman Agency and Tourbo will also provide support to explore multi-faceted brand partnerships. "AEW House Rules" makes its Canadian debut on Saturday, July 15th at the Scotiabank Saddledome during the legendary Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta. Further show dates will be announced soon. "As we expand into the Canadian market, we will leverage The Feldman Agency and Tourbo's relationships and expertise to bring our fans an incredible live-event experience," said Rafael Morffi, AEW's Vice President of Live Events. "We're continuously looking for ways to engage with our fans in new and memorable ways. Our 'AEW House Rules' series is just the beginning." "AEW quickly identified The Feldman Agency and Tourbo as the perfect partner to enhance our efforts in the Canadian market," said Jeff Jarrett, AEW's Director of Business Development. "We look forward to a strong partnership as we expand throughout Canada." Joel Baskin, Vice-President of The Feldman Agency & Tourbo Entertainment, added, "We are excited about the partnership with AEW and the new opportunities we will be able to produce with this collaboration. Since its inception, and in a very short amount of time, AEW has seen remarkable growth, providing high-quality fan experiences in the world of professional wrestling. We are thrilled to have the privilege to work with Tony Khan, Jeff Jarrett, Rafael Morffi, and the rest of the AEW team."

Jeff Jarrett is the subject of this week’s "Unrestricted Podcast". You can listen to it by clicking here.

Impact Wrestling announced that current Knockouts Champion Mickie James is injured and would not participate in their "Sacrifice" event on March 24th in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Impact did not disclose what kind of injury James is suffering from and made the announcement in a post on Twitter. James was supposed to defend her title against Jordynne Grace, but the match was canceled.

Mercedes Moné plans to defend her IWGP Women's Title all around the world, and she recently weighed in on a possible match with Impact Knockouts Champion Mickie James and more. She did a Q&A moderated by Leva Bates at "Planet Comicon 2023" in Kansas City, MO. On a possible match with Mickie James in Impact, she said “Like I said, I’m waiting for the bag. I’m waiting for Mickie James. But absolutely do I want to wrestle Mickie James. Mickie James is legit one of my idols. [She’s] someone who I grew up with and I was just like, ‘Wow.’ That was such a standard to me. Her and Trish Stratus, that storyline inspired me so much that I wanted to be in the WWE even more. Like, I’ve never seen a woman’s storyline like that. It transcended through a whole year of a buildup and Mickie James’ character was just so amazing. When they finally had their WrestleMania match, I was just like a kid. I was like, ‘Oh my — I have to do this. I want to do this. And when Mickie James came back to the WWE, I was praying and hoping that we would actually get to wrestle. We never got to, we had maybe like tag matches on house shows but we never had a one-on-one, which is my dream. And I definitely believe in 2023 that I can definitely make that dream come true. So I definitely would love to face Mickie James and retire her ass back to that rodeo.”

Bobby Fulton announced on Facebook last week that Ronnie Garvin will be inducted into the Ohio Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame at World Classic Big Time Wrestling's "Great Fall Bash 2" event in Vhillicothe, OH on September 30th.

Oklafan congratulates Devan Scott on the birth of his granddaughter on March 21st.

Black Bart posted on Facebook that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and it has spread to his liver. He said he is seeing an oncologist next week and will start chemotherapy immediately. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.
