Cade Sydal wins one for the underdogs everywhere

Cade Sydal wins one for the underdogs everywhere

Posted: Feb 20th 2006 By: oklastaff

At 164 pounds, Cade Sydal does not have the typical look of a wrestler. And his opponents are almost always bigger than he is by a large amount. That hasn?t stopped Cade from dreaming big and that dream was fulfilled when he became Heavyweight Champion of SRPW Friday night.

Then-SRPW Champion Shane Morbid came out to the ring to challenge anyone in the locker room to a match for the title and Cade answered that call. Cade & Shane had met only 1 other time, on October 21, 2005, where Cade almost pinned Shane for the title, but the timely intervention of Shane?s associate Guy Punk, kept the title in Morbid?s hands.

This night was not as fortunate for Shane, as Guy Punk was not at the show. And while Shane dominated a good portion of the match, his constant taunting of the crowd and inattention to Cade allowed Cade to score one of the biggest upsets in Oklahoma wrestling history.

The SRPW title marks Cade?s 3rd title in that federation. He first won the Light Heavyweight Title from X-Cal in a Teen Idol Death Match. He would hold that title for almost 6 months, before losing it to Dexter Hardaway. In early 2005, Cade formed a tag team with Timmy J called the 918 Boyz and defeated the New Texas Outlaw combination of Bernard Funk and Renegade to win the vacant SRPW Tag Team Titles. Their reign would only last about 2 1/2 months and subsequent frustration over being unable to regain those titles led to Timmy and Cade splitting up and becoming bitter enemies.

No word has been received regarding when Shane will exercise his rematch clause.
