Ethan Page On Re-Signing With AEW: I Couldn't Be Happier, The Sky's The Limit
Posted: Dec 15th 2022 By: Colin Tessier & Sean Ross Sapp & William T
Ethan Page is happy with AEW, and he believes the sky is the limit.
Page rose to stardom with IMPACT Wrestling, where he had a remarkable run alongside Josh Alexander as The North; the duo held the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship twice. Page then signed with AEW and debuted at the Revolution pay-per-view in 2021. He was eventually paired with Scorpio Sky, and while he got some TV time during this chapter of his career, Page was put in a more prominent spot when he aligned with Stokely Hathaway and joined The Firm.
The plans for the stable apparently changed following the beginning of CM Punk's absence. But Page continues to appear on AEW programming, and he is set to stay with the company for foreseeable future. Fightful Select previously reported that Page signed a long-term contract extension with AEW.
Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp at WrestleCade, Page commented on his decision to re-sign with the company. He made it clear that he couldn't be happier with AEW, and he pointed to his run to the finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament as a highlight.
"Yeah, they’re going good. I couldn’t be happier with AEW. Especially on-screen recently. To have the run through that entire tournament, it was like a ‘We’re going to give this guy the ball’ moment for me. It was nice to actually to be able to, what I feel, do something with it," Page said.
Page also recalled signing with AEW in the first place and noted that plenty of uncertainty came with the move, as it was during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that he knows he made the right choice by coming to AEW, and he believes the sky is the limit. Page emphasized the freedoms the company gives the talent as one key positive.
"Yeah and it was scary. I was very nervous. It was during the pandemic so [there was] so much uncertainty. It all worked out in the end and now we’re almost two years in and I couldn’t be happier. I know I made the right choice. I think sky’s the limit, too. The freedoms that they give us as performers to kind of create our own characters and presence and style and the fact that I can differentiate myself from everyone else on the show and no one is telling me, ‘No, no, be more like this guy,’ or ‘Do it more like this.’ It’s very much, ‘Whatever Ethan Page brings to the table, is what he brings to the table. If it’s good, we’re gonna put it on TV and if it’s not, we won’t,'" Page said.
Page previously stated that he agented a match, and he wants to have a long career with AEW.
In an interview, Page said that MJF picked every member of The Firm.
MJF recently named Page and Hathaway as two of the most underrated wrestlers in the game today
