NEWS
Matches and segments added to WWE’s YouTube channel include The Spirit Squad (Kenny [1st], Mikey [1st], Johnny, Mitch, & Nicky) vs. John Cena, Edge, and Triple H in a 5-On-3 Handicap Tag Team Match from the April 24, 2006 episode of "WWE Monday Night RAW" and Ric Flair vs. The Rock from the July 29, 2002 episode of "RAW".

A. J. Styles, Rey Mysterio and Doudrop were in Saudi Arabia this past week promoting WWE's return in the fall. They flew from Saudi Arabia directly to Washington DC for RAW on Monday.

WWE is just weeks away from their "Clash at the Castle" premium live event in Cardiff, Wales which will feature a slew of top matches like Drew McIntyre challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. One superstar who will not be competing at the event is former world champion A. J. Styles. "The Phenomenal One" revealed during an interview with "Inside the Ropes" that while he would love to wrestle at the show there doesn’t seem to be a storyline for him going in. “I would love to put on a show. I don’t know that I have a story or anything, and it’s a shame. There are plenty of other performers that have great stories, so I’m not saddened by the fact that I won’t be there because I know you guys are going to have such a great night with so many great matches.” Styles was noticeably absent from WWE’s last two premium live events ("Money in the Bank" and "SummerSlam").

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell opened up about his last interaction with The Ultimate Warrior that took place at the latter's Hall of Fame induction. The Ultimate Warrior was one of the most popular stars of his generation, and he was a former WWF Champion. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014, 18 years after his last appearance with the company. However, he tragically passed away just a few days later due to cardiac arrest. Speaking on "Wrestling Shoot Interviews", Mantell stated that the former champion thanked him during their interaction on "WrestleMania" weekend. Dutch added that he was taken aback by The Ultimate Warrior mentioning him in his induction speech. "The weekend that he was inducted, I briefly went through there and shook his hand. He said, 'I remember you, thank you very much and you're very nice.' He went up and gave his Hall of Fame speech and he mentioned me in the speech, which surprised me because I was just trying to help these guys. It was really surreal because he made it to RAW on Monday and then the next day, he died. So a very set of surreal circumstances surrounding the last time I was around The Ultimate Warrior," said Mantell. The Ultimate Warrior's passing sent shockwaves through the wrestling world as the former WWE Champion appeared on RAW the previous day. On April 8, 2014, he suffered a heart attack outside a hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona, and passed away at a nearby hospital a short time later at the age of 54. Speaking about his demise, Dutch Mantell mentioned that The Warrior looked like himself before his Hall of Fame induction: "He looked like Warrior to me," Mantell continued. "He didn't look like he was sick. He didn't look flushed, he looked OK. But every time I saw him he always looked inflated, because he was. So I didn't look for anything out of the ordinary." Days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, The Ultimate Warrior, passed away in 2014. Warrior was a 2 time Intercontinental Champion, and a WWF World Champion defeating Hulk Hogan at "Wrestlemania VI" in 1990. The Ultimate Warrior was one of pro wrestling's biggest stars in the late 1980s. WWE introduced the Warrior Award to keep his memory and legacy alive, as the honor is annually given out at the Hall of Fame ceremony.

WWE legend Ric Flair says he's never taken steroids in his life but said that The Ultimate Warrior did take steroids. WWE was enveloped in a scandal involving steroids in the 90s, when it was alleged that a ringside doctor had supplied steroids to wrestlers and Vince McMahon. The doctor, Dr George Zahorian, was given a three-year prison sentence, while the company tightened its drug policy. On his "To Be The Man" podcast, Ric Flair discussed his first run in the company in 1991, and the impact the steroid scandal had on the company. "I never thought of Kevin Nash being associated with steroids at all. Ultimate Warrior, obviously. I don't even need to mention their names, you know who they are [steroid users]. And that's not even... that's not even stuff I like to comment on. But, I mean, that was just a way of life, not just in wrestling, it was a way of life in sports. Everybody was looking for the advantage, and for us - I don't look at it so much as it enhanced anybody's skill, it just gave everybody an edge in their appearance," said Flair. Flair said that he's never "looked good" indicating that he's never indulged in steroids in his pro wrestling career. 90s Steroid Trial: McMahon was accused of giving steroids to his wrestlers like candy and many wrestlers even testified against him. He even transferred WWE's ownership to his wife, Linda, because there was no way he was getting out of this without a miracle. Former WWE Superstar The Mountie, aka Jacques Rougeau, revealed in an interview that there were only a handful of Superstars who didn't take steroids during his run with the company. "I could count on my hand, maybe two if I'm lucky, the guys that weren't on steroids. Everybody was on steroids, everybody but I can think of few," said the Canadian star. He said that The British Bulldogs, the tag team of Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid, were on steroids during his time with WWE in the 80s.

WWE announced its newest class of recruits that have entered their Performance Center. Among the 17 recruits is Tiller Bucktrot, a 6' 4" 305 pound former offensive lineman from the University of Tulsa. He is originally from Stroud, OK and is a proud representative of his Indigenous heritage as a member of the Muscogee Creek Tribe.

Jim Cornette gave his thoughts on various topics, including Sasha Banks, during his "Jim Cornette Experience" podcast. Cornette spoke about Banks recently making her first public appearance for an autograph signing and meet & greet with fans at the C2 convention. When she met with fans, she was socially distanced. This is something Cornette didn’t like. “Somebody’s going to say ‘Cornette F*ck you. COVID.’ Well, here’s the deal. It’s just like a low fat Twinkie. If you can’t eat the fat, don’t eat the f*cking Twinkie. If you can’t take the photo op, don’t do the photo op. I’m not going to be putting [myself in danger] And that’s the reason I’ve turned down tons of Fan Fests and things that I’ve been asked to do the past couple of years because it took all the fun out of it. Hugging people or shaking hands or taking goofy pictures, and having fun, to know that everybody’s potentially contagious. So if that’s the case, if you can’t [do it], some people don’t mind. Some people didn’t believe in COVID. Some people are vaccinated, some people have different tolerance and risk and etc. But if you’re not going to stand there and at least shake [hands], I’m not talking about God damn, you know, lip locking like anteaters. But if you can’t stand next to the person, then don’t do photo ops and don’t be paid to do photo ops. That’s my opinion, and $100 or whatever the f*ck for a picture? Yeah, I guess, these don’t look like phone pictures? Because I know there’s some places that do the high def professional photographer and you get a print of it, right? I can see charging something for that. And I’ve been talked into over the last several years charging money for pictures with people’s cell phones. Because at first I’ve mentioned I thought it was f*cking ridiculous and insane and greedy for a celebrity to charge money for a fan to take a picture of that self same celebrity with the fan’s own phone. Right? [Jim then looks at one of the pictures] He[the fan] is so far away. So far away. Doesn’t anybody stay in one place anymore for a photo op? It would be so fun to see your face near my photo op. Buddy, you’re so far away. But anyway. So yes, if you’re going to charge for a photo op, and you’re going to advertise you’re doing photo ops, I think you have to actually be next to the person or just don’t do them, which is fine. I don’t think that Sasha and Naomi, either one are gonna be on welfare and food stamps next week. They seem to have been doing fine. So far. But $100 for a picture to begin with. Did you say even more in some cases?”

Jim Cornette has taken issue with a backstage promo on AEW’s recent "Quake By The Lake" special, describing it as “horses**t”. In recent weeks, Miro has been involved in a storyline with the House of Black. The group, led by Malakai Black and featuring Brody King, Buddy Matthews and Julia Hart, has seemingly been attempting to recruit "The Redeemer" to their ranks. However, at "Quake By The Lake", Miro rejected the advances of Julia Hart, who appeared during his promo, and has instead set his sights on the faction. Discussing the segment on a recent edition of "The Jim Cornette Experience", the legendary wrestling manager explained his confusion about how Julia Hart even found her way to the area where Miro was speaking. “Miro, he’s doing a promo on Malakai Black. He says ‘Hell is empty because all the devils are here.’ Now here he is. Brian, I know a lot of people out there may not have had occasion to be on the set of a television shoot before but Malakai Black in his dark light of the spooky lighting they do, where he’s in this undisclosed location in the dark, doing these interviews and Miro, same thing. “He’s in this undisclosed location kind of in the dark and it’s lit appropriately. They’re not just standing out in a parking lot, they’re not in a giant room. They’re in a small room that has to be lit by a professional. Right? Most people would know that if they sit and thought about it. So how the f*ck would Miro be in this dark, professionally lit room for this spooky atmospheric shoot, does a slutted out Julia Hart just wander into the pre-tape and he didn’t know she was there. She had to come from 10 feet away from him. I know it’s dark in the room, but you would have seen that. Miro is doing his thing about God, he’s still got issues with God, I don’t know. They’ve got a complicated relationship, him and God. ‘Hell is empty, all the devils are here.’” Cornette went on to wonder whether AEW has now gone the WWE route of hiring dramatic writers before proclaiming the whole thing was “horsesh*t”. “Then Julia Hart, and she looks great, but she says ‘Embrace the gift, I did.’ Because she went to the dark side with Malakai and his friends. Miro blows her off because ‘Only one woman interests me…’ because he’s got to keep Lana happy at home. But he tells her some sh*t, and I thought God now they’re like the WWE, they’re hiring dramatic writers. Or did Miro and Julia and some of the crew take a dramatic writing course and now they’re auditioning sh*t, I don’t know. But this was horsesh*t. What in the world is good? Miro gets over when he comes out and smashes himself over and he looks good and blah, blah, blah, but you never see him, you hear all these promos. I’m waiting for the time when God shows up for the tag team match. But Julia Hart, who was just under the ring 45 minutes earlier and tripped poor Darby is now invading the pre-tapes of Miro in a dark cloud-enclosed room.”
