The Boogeyman Strikes!! Webber Betrays Nasty, Joins High Table!

What makes a man turn his back on everything? Money? Power? Lust? Sometimes, it's not even that man's idea. Sometimes, a devil gets inside a man's head and convinces him that a wrong has been committed when there was never a wrong to begin with.

CPW Champion Tommy Dean is not a devil. But he has been known to associate with someone who likens himself to one. And perhaps that is why WAH Champion Dan Webber did what he did. Whatever the case, Webber's actions left the CPW fans astonished after Friday's event.

CPW had welcomed Webber in with open arms. The man had a phenomenal record at CPW. And ironically, at the beginning of his time in CPW, Webber's path and Tommy Dean's path intersected, with Tommy being victorious in a Fatal 4-Way Match that Webber was involved in. Webber did not take the pinfall. In FACT, Webber did not suffer ANY pinfalls or submissions for a year's time. Webber's dominance really went on display when he won a Battle Royal at the June CPW event in 2021. A 1-on-1 victory over Milo Lamont, followed by another Fatal 4-Way Match against Urn Stokes, Giganto and Maui Mike showed Webber as a force to be reckoned with in the company. And while Webber teamed with Lamont and lost to Stokes & Lockdown, it was Lamont (who was unmasked as Romeo Reese) that took the pinfall in that match. Webber remained undeterred and the fans continued to support him as he faced off against the powerhouse known as Lockdown and felled that monster. A victory over Umbra in February and then in April, Webber got what he wanted: a title opportunity against then-918 Champion Double D.

Unfortunately for Webber, D was too much of a wily veteran competitor to be overcome by Webber's youth and power and he retained the title. And maybe this is where the crack in the armour appeared. Webber claims that after this, the CPW fans gave up on him, but there is no actual evidence of that. But that could just be the influence of Tommy Dean. Who knows?

What is known is that this past week, Dean and the rest of the newly formed High Table arrived in the ring and started berating former CPW Champion (and current WCR Tag Team Champion) Mr. Nasty. And Nasty showed no fear in confronting the threesome, but made it clear that he did not stand alone, bringing out Webber and Reese as well. That, along with some pointed questions about Tommy's potential recreational drug use led to an in-ring confrontation that forced CPW Commissioner Matt Barnett to take action. He ordered a 6-man tag team match for the main event. Tommy agreed to that, but said that he wanted it to be an elimination match, because he wanted to humiliate Nasty and his teammates individually. Barnett said that was fine, but he was going to put his own spin on it and that if either Nasty or Tommy were eliminated, then their entire team (or whatever was left of it at the time) would be eliminated.

When the main event came, Tommy and Nasty started the match and fans were excited as they looked forward to Nasty getting his hands on Tommy for his actions and words earlier. But just as soon as Tommy got in the ring, he tagged out of the ring and that would be the situation for much of the first half of the match. Tommy obviously wanted nothing to do with Mr. Nasty and hoped to avoid sharing the ring with him at any point, instead letting Samuel Savage and Urn Stokes shoulder the burdern of the match for much of its duration. And that plan didn't work quite the way that Dean wanted as Romeo Reese would catch Urn Stokes in a leaping neckbreaker to put him out, leaving it 3-2 in favour of Mr. Nasty's team. But the odds were soon evened as Samuel Savage hit a Bubba Bomb on Reese and pinned him, bringing it to 2-on-2.

At that point, things began to seriously break down. Savage and Nasty fought in the ring while Dean and Webber went to the outside. Nasty put Savage down and climbed to the top turnbuckle, preparing to hit a frog splash, but Dean shoved him off so he crashed on the mat. Dean then saw an opportunity to inflict further damage (even if it meant getting disqualified and losing the match) and grabbed Nasty's pimp cane. As he lifted the cane over his head, Webber snatched it out of Dean's hands...

...and after Nasty dropped his guard, Webber blindsided "The Creole Soul" with it, breaking the cane and the hearts of the CPW fans.

With Nasty down, Webber showed no remorse as he pummled the fallen champion and it was only due to the arrival of WCR Champion Sam Stackhouse and UWE Heavyweight & Apex and WFC Hometown Heroes Champion Koko that Nasty was not more seriously injured. Koko promised revenge next month as he laid the challenge out for Tommy Dean. That may satiate some people, but Nasty still wants revenge on Webber. And perhaps that will come in the near future. At the momenth, Webber has pulled out a chair and taken a seat at the High Table. In his mind, it's all justified and he believes he can count on his Table-mates to have his back.

Maybe he can. Or maybe another voice will get into his head. And another betrayal might be imminent.
