Romero Contreras sets even more records in TPW!

TPW Oklahoma Champion Romero Contreras has been on a record-setting run recently. He won the Oklahoma Stampede last week, becoming on the second person to win 2 Stampedes and the second to win 1 while being Oklahoma Champion. This week, Romero added even more notoriety to his credentials as a result of his TPW Tag Team Title match against Sexy Bologna.

On the TPW Message Board, Romero told the fans that they would have to wait for the announcement of his partner until the show Saturday night. After he and TPW Tag Team Champions Sexy Bologna came to the ring, Romero announced that his partner was " the only person to beat (him) in the last 3 months":...TPW Tag Team Champion Anthony Jackson! This made Jackson the partner of both Romero and Sudden Impact, putting him in a no-lose situation. It also reunited one of the great teams in TPW history, The Mexican Combo Platter.

The main turning point in the match came when both Romero and Sudden Impact were looking for a tag with Jackson. Both made the tag simultaneously, resulting in referee Mike 2 declaring that Jackson was the legal man for both teams! What followed is difficult for this reporter to describe, but it seemed like something out of a Monty Python sketch as Anthony Jackson began to wrestle himself! He slammed his own head into a turnbuckle. He cut himself off from tagging out of the match. And ultimately, he forced himself to tap out to himself. When the bell rang, both Romero and Sudden Impact grabbed 1/2 of the TPW Tag Team belts and declared that it was "their" Jackson that forced the submission. TPW commissioner Kitty had no choice but to declare that all 3 men were now TPW Tag Team Champions.

With this victory, Romero now joins Anthony Jackson as the only 2 wrestlers to hold 4 different titles in TPW. Romero is a former 2-time TPW Champion and also was the current Women?s champion when OCW became TPW, competing under the monkier Manservant. Jackson is a 3-time former TPW Oklahoma Champion, a former TPW Champion and also held the now-defunct TPW Hardcore Title.

This 3-some now becomes the first 3-man TPW Tag Team Championship team. And Sexy Bologna can also make a claim that they are 3-time TPW Tag Team Champions, having won the belts from themselves.

There has been no ruling yet from the TPW Championship committee as to whether a "Freebird" style rule will be put in effect, allowing any 2 of the 3 members to defend the titles.
