Dissension in ranks of Impact, Inc.?
Posted: Nov 7th 2007 By: mikeiles
Impact, Inc. is one of the strongest factions in the state of Oklahoma. With John Zorthos & Bernie Donderwitz dominating the tag team scene, Brad Michaels as the singles wrestler and workhorse, and Gary Tool as the wise veteran, Impact, Inc. seem to have had it all, including all the power since Zorthos is also the owner of IZW. But new commissioner Mike Iles may have finally begun to put a wedge in the group.
As the November 3rd IZW show began, all 4 members of Impact, Inc. were in the ring bragging about their accomplishments, and rightfully so. Michaels and Donderwitz had advanced to the semi-finals of the Impact Division Tournament, and of course Donderwitz and Zorthos had recently regained the Tag Team Titles for an unprecedented fourth time. As they continued to toot their own horn and pat each other on the back, the new IZW Commissioner Mike Iles strolled to the ring much to the dismay of the group, most especially Zorthos.
Iles entered the ring and congratulated Michaels and Donderwitz on advancing in the tournament. After saying that Michaels had the night off and setting up the main event of Donderwitz facing IZW Champion Michael Barry, he turned his attention to Zorthos. He explained to Zorthos that he had a match in the Impact Division Tournament that night but his scheduled opponent, Gary Gram, had called and said due to a family emergency he would be unable to make it. Zorthos thought he had a forfeit win and would also advance in the tournament. Iles disagreed and said he made a few calls but couldn't find an opponent. Iles also said he checked the roster of available wrestlers in attendance and they all had matches. But then he remembered one. A wrestler with honor, integrity, and experience. He announced to the crowd that the opponent of John Zorthos would be none other than Gary Tool. While Zorthos was livid, Tool very calmly said to Iles that he had no beef with him but he wasn't going to wrestle his team mate and friend. Iles said if he did not wrestle he would have his wrestling license suspended indefinitely. As Zorthos continued yelling at Iles, Tool left the ring. When asked where he was going, Tool said he had no choice than to get ready to wrestle.
During the show, a video was shown on the ZorthoTron 420 that featured Tool lacing up the boots and Zorthos walking in to talk to him. They got into a heated argument after Tool refused to bow out of the match and Zorthos stormed out of the room. When the match began, it was only Zorthos and Tool. It didn't end that way. Zorthos, who had broken his nose in the Tag Team Titles win and had the stitches removed just days before, was hit once again in the nose. As he held his nose in pain, Brad Michaels and Bernie Donderwitz entered the ring. Michaels checked on Zorthos who pushed him away and into Tool who fell over Donderwitz who was bent over picking up his sunglasses. Zorthos picked up the win and went to the locker room while Tool stayed in the ring confused by what had transpired. Meanwhile, Michaels and Donderwitz stood in the entry way looking back and forth between the curtain and the ring as if they were torn as to which way to side. No comments from any member of Impact, Inc. at this time.
So how strong is Impact, Inc.? Can they withstand this obstacle and continue their IZW dominance? Or now that John Zorthos doesn't rule IZW with an iron fist and can't protect Impact, Inc., is the faction doomed? A group is only as strong as its weakest link. Then again who exactly is the weakest link?
