Don’t Call It A Comeback...Yet!

Don’t Call It A Comeback...Yet!

Posted: Jul 21st 2021 By: Michael Hunt

Tyson Jaymes has been a mainstay of the Oklahoma City area wrestling scene for over 15 years. And in that time, there have been issues that have caused him to have to take time off, most of those health related. Nonetheless, from 2012 to 2018, Tyson was viewed as a strong contender to any singles title he wanted and he earned quite a few in that time. SWCW Champion in 2010. BCW Champion in 2016. The very first ASP Mid-American Champion in 2018.

2018 was a difficult year for Tyson, though, as he faced off against current BCW Buzzsaw Champion Father Padge and suffered an injury that would keep him out of wrestling for 3 years. But Jaymes reappeared at ASP in 2020 as the ring announcer and has also done broadcasting for UWO. Nonetheless, the itch to get back in the ring has been increasing and the desire to gain revenge against Father Padge has only increased that desire.

At a recent EPW event, Jaymes came to the rescue of EPW Champion Kevin James Sanchez after Sanchez was threatened by Father Padge and C. M. Burnham. And with that action, Jaymes silently declared war on Padge, making it a point to appear wherever he could to disrupt Padge & Burnham’s plans. That war started with Jaymes interrupting Padge at the beginning of a UWO TV Taping and UWO Commissioner Tuck Davion making a Triple Threat Match between Padge, Jaymes and Warren Powers for Padge’s Buzzsaw and EPW Internet Television Titles. Padge retained the Buzzsaw Title, Powers gained the Television title and Jaymes walked away with little to show for his efforts except the knowledge that he got a few licks in on Padge.

Jaymes was supposed to compete at the next EPW event, but was not cleared by UWO medical personnel. While unconfirmed, the cause of his impairment appears to have been a large quantity of THC. Father Padge has denied any involved in this matter, having revoked that lifestyle, but questions and suspicions remain as to exactly who was responsible for Tyson’s inability to perform.

This past Friday on UWO TV, Tyson was interviewed by Tuck Davion about his official return to the ring. And just like Tyson had interrupted Father Padge previously, Padge and Burnham decided to interrupt Tyson. Words went back and forth between them and a match was ultimately agreed on. While not as slim as he was back in 2010, Tyson still had power and experience going for him. But Padge was a wiley competitor and the presence of Burnham on the outside ultimately made all the difference. After Jaymes hit a spear on Padge, Burnham collapsed on the outside of the ring and began to call for his son, claiming that something had happened to his knee. Padge then took the referee and began to beg for the ref to call for medical assistance. But with the referee’s back to Burnham, the devious manager hopped to his feet and hit Tyson in the throat with his cane. Fully “recovered”, Burnham then encouraged Padge to finish Tyson off and the “Dark Redeemer” did just that, hitting a Black Mass on Tyson and pinning him to retain the Buzzsaw Title.

So far, it appears that Tyson’s efforts to bounce back into competition are being thwarted. Reports indicate that Padge knocked two of Tyson’s teeth out after hitting the Black Mass and Tyson may be out of action for another slightly extended time. Can Tyson come back and accomplish what he has done before? That remains to be seen. But his drive and determination of overcome the odds before and perhaps they can do so again.
