Lady Sensacion: The Top 5 Compeititors Primed to Dethrone the New Champion

Lady Sensacion: The Top 5 Compeititors Primed to Dethrone the New Champion

Posted: Jun 22nd 2021 By: C. M. Burnham

This past Friday, FIW held its first event in Oklahoma and crowned its first champion in the form of Lady Sensacion. The new FIW Women’s Champion is a 20+ year veteran competitor who had to battle her way through 3 other top stars to gain this championship. But winning the title is often the easiest part. Being prepared to compete against all challengers is the hardest. So, with that in mind, here are Oklafan’s picks for the 5 ladies most likely to dethrone the champion:

#5: Claudia Solis. Claudia was one of the 3 other competitors in the match and made her Oklahoma debut on this card. A woman with quite a bit of regional exposure, Claudia holds one singular advantage over all the other people on the list: She can speak Spanish. This could be a psychological tool that might assist Solis in potential rematches, but don’t underestimate her skills in-ring either. Claudia would love to show Oklahoma just who the true fiery Latina in FIW is.

#4: Miranda Gordy. Another of the 3 competitors that Sensacion overcame, Gordy comes in with the advantage of being a 2nd generation wrestler. She’s been regularly competing in the ring for the past 4 years and has held titles in multiple states. Gordy was the final person in the 4-Way Elimination match to be pinned, meaning she has endurance and knows what it takes to hang with the champion. Another match could have a very different result, especially if it were a 1-on-1 match.

#3: Zafiro. Sensacion’s fellow female luchadore was very successful 2 years ago when they faced off in LLR. Both times, Zafiro came out the victor. It’s unclear why Zafiro was not included in the Fatal 4-Way Match, but Sensacion certainly has to be concerned about the reappearance of the miniature ball of dynamite as she could present a strong challenge on an even level to Sensacion.

#2: Skylar Slice: The 3rd and final competitor in the Fatal 4-Way Match. She was the first to be eliminated, but don’t think that means that she is not a strong threat to the championship. After spending most of the year battling her sister in CPW, Slice came into this match somewhat mentally disheveled. Slice is 1/2 of the current UWE Tag Team Champions and is the only woman in Oklahoma known to hold 4 different women’s titles at the same time. With her sisterly woes apparently behind her, Slice can spend much of her time now refocusing on becoming the dominant women’s star in the state and adding more gold to her resume.

#1: Erica. When you think accomplished women’s competitors in Oklahoma, the list almost always starts with Erica. The ASP All Time Champion can hold her own against anyone, male or female, that she steps in the ring with. And don’t be distracted by her somewhat diminutive size. Erica is incredibly strong, athletically gifted and physically dominant. The simple FACT that she was not included in this championship match should only motivate her more to seek out Lady Sensacion and challenge her. It’s a match-up for the ages and one that FIW should look in to making happen at their next Oklahoma event.

With challengers like that on the horizon, as well as other top female stars like Nova Phoenix, Killista and Candy White, Lady Sensacion is going to have to work extra hard to be prepared. Every event will be a challenge. But if she could outlast 3 challengers in a single match, she is certainly determined not to let so many members of Hispanic fan base in Oklahoma down anytime soon. Sensacion wants to show everyone world wide why she is a champion and a competitor to be reckoned with.
