Divine Internvention May Be Needed For EPW Champion

Divine Internvention May Be Needed For EPW Champion

Posted: Jun 2nd 2021 By: Michael Hunt

It was the realisation of a dream. But it may end up being a brand new nightmare for EPW Champion Kevin James Sanchez.

Since the beginning of the year, Sanchez had made it his goal to take the EPW Title from Double D. But on paper, this feat looked impossible. D was younger, in better shape and had the assistance of both ASP All-Time Champion Erica and C. M. Burnham at ringside. Sanchez knew he had to be creative to overcome those odds. And he did. He brought L. J. McDaniel out of retirement for their match at Thirst For Gold. He brought in Kareem Sadat as the special referee. And he survived Three Stages of Hell, despite being forced to go almost an hour against someone whose cardio conditioning is never in question as well as nearly being crippled by D after landing on a table that did not bend or break.

Sanchez gained the victory, ending D's title reign of approximately 18 months. And Sanchez immediately set out to establish a reputation for himself as champion by issuing an open challenge to the locker room this past Saturday at the EPW event in Oklahoma City. Answering that challenge, EPW Tag Team Champion Revan, who has been making quite a name for himself in recent months as a singles competitor as well. This match was fairly even and both competitors were popular in the eyes of the fans, so no matter who won, they would be satisfied.

That is, if a winner had been allowed.

But C. M. Burnham was not going to allow that to happen. And as the match seemed to approach a decision, Burnham decided to interect a new player into the field. That player being his son, the EPW Internet Television Champion, Father Padge.

Padge and Burnham hit the ring, causing a DQ victory for Sanchez. But Sanchez looked anything but a winner after the beating that Padge and Burnham gave him. Burnham then took the microphone and again tried to remind Sanchez that he was on nothing but a nostalgia tour. Burnham couldn't explain how Sanchez got so lucky as to survive Three Stages of Hell, but Hell was a great description of what he and Padge had in mind. Burnham went on to suggest that Sanchez not issue anymore open challenges because the next time, it might just be Padge answering. Padge had some words for Sanchez as well, but was happier to let his actions do the talking and continued the beatdown of Sanchez until, in another shocking moment, Tyson Jaymes hit the ring, driving Burnham and Padge away. Jaymes grabbed the microphone and had some choice words for both of them, making it clear that stood by Sanchez's side and that "you might catch a cold and you might catch the flu, but you don't want to catch these hands!"

Jaymes has been absent as an in-ring competitor for almost 2 years, having been put out of action by Father Padge. So he certainly has reason to confront the "Dark Redeemer". And with the absence of any other back-up, Sanchez knows that he has one person he can count on. Utimately, though, this fight will come down to Padge and Sanchez. And while Sanchez pulled off one miracle to win the EPW Title, can he hope for more divine intervention to retain it?
