NEWS
The funeral for Juan Kachmanian (Pampero Firpo) took place Friday in San Jose. Very nice speeches from his son John and daughter Mary. Most notable that in the assisted living home, because he was always so well dressed, people there thought he must have been a fashion designer in his youth. They talked of how proud he was to be voted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018 and really a lot of talk about his family life, including bringing his family from Argentina to the U.S. and being able to help buy them homes, as well as when they would go to Hawaii and people would see him and yell, "Oooh yeah!" and call him "Link." There was also a funny story when he was a babyface in Hawaii and he was cast for a part in Hawaii 5-O where he was supposed to terrorize some kids and Jack Lord would save the day, but since he was a face there, he wanted to be the one to help Jack Lord save the day. He never did appear on that episode.

Nathan Jones, known for "Mad Max: Fury Road", "The Scorpion King: Books of Souls", and "Troy", signed on to star in Cryptid Films's and High Entertainment's film, "The Kiamichi Project". The 6' 11'' Australian actor joins Meg Foster, who also has a starring role in the movie, which is an action-packed tale about legendary Sasquatch in the Oklahoma mountains.

PWInsider reported that Velveteen Dream and Jinder Mahal are scheduled to be in Houston next weekend. They did not report either would be in the Rumble, only that both would be flying to Houston.

Ric Flair will be going on the Jericho Cruise this coming week but not for the entire week. He'll be there the early days but will be leaving early.

Phoebe sustained an abdominal injury that forced her to miss a booking in Beaumont, TX this past Saturday. Oklafan wishes her a speedy recovery.

Oklafan is saddened to report the death of Kendo Nagasaki, also known as Mr. Sakaruda and the Dragonmaster, who passed away due to cardiac arrest caused in part by a failed pacemaker. He was 71 years old. Nagasaki, whose real name was Kazuo Sakurada, began as a sumo wrestler before debuting as a professional wrestler in 1971. He initially competed in Japan before heading to Canada in 1976, where he billed himself as Mr. Sakaruda (sometimes it would appear as Duke Sakaruda). While competing mostly in Canada for Stu Hart, he ventured down to TSW, where he made his Oklahoma debut in 1977. He was not involved in any particular feuds or title programms, but he did face Jerry Oates several times as well as having some of his earliest encounters with the Von Erichs. Sakaruda returned to Canada by 1978, but by 1979, he was regularly competing in Texas, where he and regular tag team partner Mr. Hito defeated Jose Lothario & El Halcon for the NWA American Tag Team Titles on January 11, 1980. They lost the titles back to Lothario and his new partner Tiger Conway, Jr. on March 14, 1980, but regained them on June 23rd. That second title reign would only last a day, as the titles were held up following a match against Kerry & Kevin Von Erich on June 24th, but one week later, on July 1st, 1980, Hito & Sakurada captured the titles for a 3rd time. They would lose them sometimes in August, 1980 to Kerry Von Erich & El Halcon and Sakurada would leave the company. At that point, he would head to the Memphis territory, where he would adopt the Kendo Nagasaki identity which had previously been used by a masked British wrestler. Sakurada would put his own spin on it and it would become the best known of his identities. As Nagasaki, he would return to Oklahoma in 1983 for a pair of matches; a victory over Mike Sharpe, Jr. and a loss to MSW North American champion The Junkyard Dog. Nagasaki would continue to be a star in many of the top regional federations before entering the NWA in 1990. There he rechristened himself as The Dragonmaster and was part of the J-Tex Corporation. But that stay would be brief and he would return to Japan for the remainder of his career before retiring in 2000. Nagasaki was a pioneer in America of the Superkick (which he called the Thrust Kick) and feuded Chris Adams over who had the superior version. He also was an early proponent of utilizing green mist and mentored The Great Muta, who would adopt some of Nagasaki’s mannerisms. Nagasaki has 12 documented Oklahoma appearances. The earliest was a match against Jerry Oates on February 27, 1977 for TSW in Lawton, where no result is known. His last match was the aforementioned loss the the Junkyard Dog in Oklahoma City for MSW. Oklafan extends condolences to Nagasaki’s friends and family at this time.
