Missy Hyatt: Diva-Fiva Interview

Missy Hyatt: Diva-Fiva Interview

Posted: Apr 26th 2010 By: CMBurnham

What have you been doing now days?

I had been very preoccupied with my charity work for russellsrescue.com. I run a foster home for unwanted Jack Russell terriers and I try to adopt them out to new families. I found that by saving Jack Russell terriers from being possibly put to sleep from over crowded kennels to be more rewarding then anything in wrestling. http://www.russellrescue.com/news_flow.php4 I?m also involved with my reality website at www.missyhyatt.net that has now been in operation for over 5 years. The web site got something for everybody. I have tons of exclusive articles in which I don?t hold back my no holds barred opinion on old school and current wrestling. I have tons of reality video that document my wacky wrestling adventures and personal life. I host several live weekly chats in which I chat with my site members as we watch WWE & TNA wrestling together. Plus I have tons of exclusive footage from backstage at the indy shows that I work on. You can get more information at www.missyhyatt.net
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Will we see you back in the ring one day?

I still manage & work on the indy scene. I got no problems in working in the ring with the right wrestlers that can obviously carry me to a watchable match. I always believe in the never say never attitude. I would be a fool to turn down a Knockouts or Diva Title shot if it ever came up. I?m refereeing a Malia Hosaka VS. Athena match for www.traditionalwrestling.com. Malia is still one of the hardest working and respected workers in women?s wrestling.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Who is your current favorite diva and knockout?

I still watch WWE, TNA, Shimmer, ROH, old school wrestling, & current wrestling. I would like to think that I still have a pulse on who is talented and which talent deserves to make it to the big time.

Vickie Guerrero:
I was originally skeptical about Vickie being used as a TV character. Vickie got a presence and poise that can?t be taught. This girl generates so much heat, which is extremely difficult in this day & age. She knows when to milk the crowd with just a facial expression and her patent quote in ?Excuse Me!? Vickie is already talented enough to elevate other talent by just being linked to them in story line. I consider Vickie to be one of the most surprising break out Diva in the last few years. I just get annoyed when WWE tries to put her in embarrassing situations. I wasn?t too much of a fan of her being stripped down to her underwear a few weeks ago. I feel Vickie should have heat to her character & not be relegated to comedy fodder for television.

Maryse:
I think she is very beautiful. She got poise and a presence. I just think her wrestling work and mic skills need to be further developed. Maybe linking Maryse with Miz would elevate her television character.

Serena:
Serena is the hottest bald chick ever in wrestling. I had seen her wrestle prior to WWE in Shimmer & OVW. This girl busted her ass to get herself a great spot. I remember in 1986 that UWF asked me how much I wanted for my hair in a hair VS. hair match. Needless to say that we were far apart on the dollar amount. Serena was so hungry for a WWE roster spot that she shaved her head with no guaranteed spot on the main roster or any big pay off in return. That?s being hungry to be in the biz & I respect the hell out of Serena.I think she is doing a great job in The Straight Edge Society. Plus she is a great wrestler that will hopefully get the time to shine in the ring.

Natalya Neidhart:
I?m a big fan of Nattie Neidahart. The girl had wrestled in Japan , Germany , Shimmer, & Stampede. The girl can work. I?m hoping that she will get the opportunity to work a program with Beth Phoenix or Gail Kim down the line. I think she?s doing a decent job in her managerial role for the time being.

Gail Kim:
The most underutilized Diva in the company. She got the potential to be the worker that Trish Stratus was in the ring. She did such a great job in TNA against Awesome Kong & I just sit there in amazement that she is not focused heavily enough in WWE.

I think A.J. Lee [formerly Miss April on North East indys] in WWE developmental got a ton of talent. I saw her wrestle in her first year & I thought she had wrestled for years. This girl is cute & is quite a worker in the ring with only 2 years of experience.

I think Rosa Mendes got a ton of potential as a valet. WWE hasn?t even scratched the surface on her yet. I think if given the right role, she can be a major heat magnet as a manager.

Angelina Love:
I think she is the best female heel in the business in her previous role in TNA. She can cut a decent promo. She got the look of a superstar. I seen her work on the indy scene over the last two years & this girl knows what she is doing in the ring. She got psychology, a presence, charisma, & promo skills. I gained all of the respect for her dedication to wrestling after she lost her WWE developmental deal. She ended up taking some AAA dates & worked her way to TNA. The girl is easily one of the highlights for me during Impact. I remember I met her in the hotel lobby the day after Booker T?s fundraising convention last year. I asked to take a photo with her. She was stunned, since I?m senior to her in the business I told her that I?m such a fan of her work that I actually mark out for her character. I think Angelina & Velvet Sky were awesome together. They had the potential to be The Freebirds of the Knockout Division.

So Cal Val:
TNA is missing the boat on Val. I seen her work as a valet & she is great. I have no idea on why TNA can?t find her a better role that can display her talent.

There are tons of great women workers in all shapes and sizes out there. You just have to take your nose out of a modeling catalog to find them. I still think Becky Bayless, Rain, Amber O'Neal, Sarah Del Ray, Christina Von Eerie, & others could be an asset to WWE or TNA. Some times you have to get away from the 110 pound, silicone, blonde, cookie cutter mode and look for something out of the box. That?s why I?m shocked that Awesome Kong had not been hired by WWE. This girl was the Vader of The Knock Out Division. She moved TV ratings & had some of the best matches against Gail Kim last year for TNA. The girl is money.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seeing women?s wrestling today and comparing it from back then when you wrestled, what would you say has changed?

I used to hate watching women?s wrestling as a kid. I just couldn?t get in to the workers, style, etc. Around 1984, Ken Mantell blew away the old school style with hot girls doing cat fight spots. It was innovative in 1984 and carried itself all the way thru ECW & the early WWE Attitude years. Now the style had evolved in to women wrestlers being more consensuses about work rate, wrestling ability, and presenting wrestling matches that are far superior to the old school wrestling in the U.S. Girls like Sensational Sherri & Trish Stratus deserve all of the praise that they had earned in their careers. They inspired a whole new decade of girls that can draw and move TV rating under the right situations. I still think that any new girl in the wrestling business should watch Lipstick & Dynamite or Gaea Girls to understand how dedicated many of the girls are to their craft.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
How was it taping Missy?s Manor?

It just didn?t work out. I got nothing bad to say about WWF. Luckily for me that Dusty Rhodes had a better idea for a similar role for me in WCW.
http://www.wrestlecrap.com/newinduction4.html

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
What company did you like working for the most, WWF, WCW or WCW?

I was never a WWF worker. I just had some try outs. WCW was a political headache at times. Granted I gained most of my wrestling fame from the company. I try to not dwell on the political headaches & try to remember the good stuff. I was able to work with some of the greatest wrestling stars on TBS. Not too shabby for a Southern girl that watched wrestling on WTBS on Saturday afternoons to eventually work on the same show that I watched as a teenager. I got to work with quite a list of hall of famers in Ric Flair, Steve Austin, Dusty Rhodes, Abdullah the Butcher, Sting, Steiner Bros., Tony Schiavorne, Jim Ross, Stan Hansen, Great Muta, Eddie Gilbert, Paul Heyman, Arn Anderson, & many others.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I heard your going to Germany , can you tell us a little big more about the trip?

I?m tentatively working for DWA on November. I?m a big World War #2 history geek. When the promoter contacted me about the show, I instantly said ?hell yeah!!? I had wanted to go sight seeing in Germany for some time. I even jokingly told the promoter that by me working in Germany this year would be my Wrestle Mania for me. I plan to visit some historical sites and I look forward to working on a German wrestling show. I?m not really familiar with the current German wrestling scene [I seen one WXW DVD]. I?m looking forward to watching some of the matches on the show, since I am still a wrestling geek.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Do you have any merchandise out?

I got autographed DVD?s, pictures, trading cards, & more at http://missyhyatt.net/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=107
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I heard you managed Lacey Von Erich and Dawn Marie? How was that like?

I love Lacey. She is far from being a polished worker, but the girl got a great heart. I heard that she is taking wrestling classes in California . I hope she is doing well in learning the mechanics in the ring. She got a million dollar look & at times she got pushed too soon. Luckily TNA is accentuating her positives and trying to hide her weaknesses. I enjoy her role in The Beautiful People. Velvet Sky is doing a great job in carrying the role as the leader. Madison is improving in the ring. Lacey is getting the television exposure & hopefully the ring time to improve. I?m a big fan of The Von Erichs. I owe my entire wrestling career to Fritz, Ken Mantell, John Tatum, & others for my career break. I never had my pay messed with by Fritz. I never got screamed at. I never had any political headaches. Working for WCCW was the happiest times of my career. Guaranteed contracts, merchandising, & national TV exposure will still never beat my time in WCCW. I managed Lacey awhile back. She asked me on why I?m so nice to her by making sure that she got paid, had a ride to her hotel, a & making sure that she had a ride to the airport. It was very simple, her granddaddy started me on my career and it?s the least that I could do for Lacey. I worked with her last year for www.kayfabecommentaries.com on our Pajama Party DVD. I really wish her well. The girl got a million dollar look & hopefully she will learn the wrestling business in TNA. I knew Dawn Marie in her rookie days on Dennis Coraluzzo shows. I remember that she was naive at the time by having a shady agent that took a cut from her wrestling bookings & merchandise sales. I told Dawn that she got a million dollar look & talent. She doesn?t need anybody taking a cut from her, since promoters will book her for her obvious talent. Luckily I was correct, since Dawn would get to work for ECW & WWE. I give Dawn credit that after her WWE career ended and after she had her first child, she decided to continue to learn how to wrestle. She would take wrestling classes and even worked a few matches. The girl is a total class act. Dawn is a great person with a kind heart. Dawn has done a ton of work with her non profitable charity. I always joke with her that I worry about broken down dogs with my charity work & she instead worries about broken down wrestlers. You can get more information at http://www.wrestlersrescue.org/.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Do you still keep in contact with any wrestlers today?

I hate naming names on which I?m friends with, since it could possibly get them heat. I do admit to being friends with Mecha Mummy, Shock Wave The Robot, Gentle Ben The Wrestling Bear, & Hornswoggle.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Looking back on the work you?ve done in the wrestling business, do you think you?ve created a legacy for future women wrestlers to follow?

I can?t answer that question. I was just on the front line to the valet craze when it started under Ken Mantell?s booking. I was at the right place at the right time. I consider myself fortunate, since how many of us had watched wrestling & got the chance to perform on the same TV show that we watched as a fan? Not too bad for a girl from Tallahassee , Florida .
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
What your plans for the future?

I got my evening gown in the back of my car and I?m waiting on stand by to be inducted in to the WWE Hall Of Fame in the event that any celebrities like Liberace, Mr. T, Burt Renyolds, or Pamela Anderson back out at the last minute. My only wrestling plans are to get a wrestling figure within my life time. I still will never give up on bitching & whining about never getting a figure. It?s the only goal that I have left in wrestling. You can join my online petition @
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=81618597454&ref=mf I?m also hoping to be Jesse Ventura?s running mate for the 2012 Presidential Election. What?s so great about Sarah Palin, who the hell did she ever beat in the ring? I?m also waiting for Mauro Ranallo to hook me up with a six figure pay day against Gina Carano for Strike Force.
