The second interview in a series that will lead up to OMNI-6
OMNI Interviews : Big Rich (BR)
Interview done by: Chance Ryan (CR)
CR : Rich, do you mind me calling you Rich? You recently have joined the announcing team for OMNI Wrestling and seem to have quite an impressive voice on the microphone. Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into doing announcing for professional wrestling?
BR : Rich is good or Big Rich. I was a DJ at another entertainment establishment, when a guy asked me if I have ever done any announcing professionally. I told him only for tips ha, ha, ha. I fit right in and did some work with (other promotions) for a little over a year.
CR : Well, we're glad to have you now at OMNI and look forward to working with you, as we grow. Now, you recently just started with the promotion after the summer break, right when the Tag Team Tournament began.
BR : Yes, I started at OMNI-4, the first night of the Tag Team Tourney. It's been a good time, so far. I'm looking forward to future shows.
CR : Speaking of future shows, OMNI-6 is the finals of that previously aforementioned Tag Tournament. What have you thought of the tournament so far and what team do you have pegged to win it all?
BR : So far, I see Brotherhood Of Mayhem winning it all. It?s been a good showing by all teams involved, but with the promoter?s choice addition at OMNI-6, who knows what kind of wrench will be thrown into the machine.
CR : Good point. Now, outside the Tag Team division, OMNI is host to a very exciting Junior Heavyweight division and a Heavyweight division that is producing some hard hitting match ups. In your opinion, who do you see holding these two divisions? titles after OMNI-6?
BR : Last show we clearly saw that no title is guaranteed. Michael Wolf lost his title, then won it back. The powers that be seem to be punishing Mr. Wolf, this time, as he is up against not only 'Superstar' Steven Sterling, but also the mad man Patient Zero. It?s hard to say what?s going to happen there. As far as the Heavyweight division goes, 'The Title Hunter' (Gentleman Jack O'Brien) and The Anti-Hero (Canadian Red Devil) went toe-to-toe in the last match at OMNI-5. They went back and forth for the entire 15 minute match with no clear victor, as time expired. This time they both have a full hour to prove who the real champion is and my money is on "The Title Hunter" Jake O?Brien.
CR : Do you believe Michael Wolf is being punished, due to the actions of the now-retired Dexter Hardaway? Was it the way that Dex requested the 3-Way Dance to happen, after missing his scheduled match with Wolf, that might have infuriated the powers that be?
BR : I'm not sure if that is the fuel to the fire or there is something more to the story. If anything, throwing him in the three-way dance gave him the opportunity to show OWA staff and fans that he is the true champion. This new match may be OWA staff testing him to see if his heart is truly the heart of a champion.
CR : Out of the two men that are facing him, Patient Zero and Steven Sterling, who do you feel comes in with an advantage against the champion? Take into account both men are coming off losses in the Tag Tournament. Actually, in Sterling's case it's two losses. Patient Zero was part of the team that knocked both Sterling & Wolf out of the opening round of the tournament.
BR : We'll just have to wait and see if that plays a factor, Patient Zero is more about brute force. I think Wolf will need to be on his game to outsmart Sterling and Zero, and as we saw at the last show, we all wonder what happened to our attractive ring girl. She was last seen getting dragged backstage by the 'Superstar' himself. I think we all want to know what happened to her and who was sending those gifts to her if they weren't from Sterling.
CR : It does seem like the Superstar's head has been somewhere else, as he has come up short now twice in the Tag Tournament. So it does seem that the gifts given to Claire have infuriated the usually calm demeanor of Steven Sterling. That being said, since you brought it up Rich, you?re not the secret admire, are you?
BR : I plead the 5th.
CR : Well that about wraps it up for this interview session, you've made it clear that in your opinion you believe the Brotherhood Of Mayhem will walk out of OMNI-6 the tag team champions, that Jake O'Brien will defeat Canadian Red Devil and that it's anybody?s ball game when it comes to Junior Heavyweight 3-Way Dance. Would you like to clarify on one or both of your bold predictions that you made regarding the Tag Team Titles or the Heavyweight Title?
BR : That about sums it up.
CR : I believe it does. We would like to thank you for the time you've taken out of your busy day. Any final thoughts you may have on the upcoming OMNI-6 Event?
BR : It will be an action-packed eventful night for fans and staff alike, possibly 3 different titles might change hands that night and it?s all going to be captured for the upcoming OWA-TV coming in early 2014.
