Impact Wrestling announced Tuesday that it has re-entered into an agreement with Louisville-based Ohio Valley Wrestling to serve as an official development and training territory for Impact Wrestling. The announcement of the renewed partnership follows the success of the co-promoted One Night Only: Clash in the Bluegrass event, a sold-out show from Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky, which featured stars from both organizations. “We are excited to grow our outreach and partnership with promotions worldwide,” said IMPACT Wrestling Executive VP Scott D’Amore. “It is great to work with Al Snow and the team at OVW, which has a long history of developing great talent.” “OVW is proud to be entrusted with the development of the true lifeblood of any professional wrestling promotion – the in-ring talent,” said OVW CEO and owner Al Snow. As part of the agreement, IMPACT Wrestling management will look to OVW when scouting new talent and those on the development roster will see future opportunities to appear on the flagship weekly show Impact!, which is televised in more than 120 countries around the world. Al Snow acquired OVW in June 2018 and formed Gladiator Sports Network, which also produces professional boxing events and a high school sports prep series while keeping wrestling as its signature brand. OVW served as the official development training ground for World Wrestling Entertainment from 2000 to 2008 and as Impact Wrestling’s training territory from 2012 to 2014. With more than 1,000 television episodes, OVW is the longest running professional wrestling series broadcast on local television in the U.S. The series is the signature of the company’s elite training program, which boasts more than 150 alumni who went on to international fame, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar and reigning Impact World Champion Johnny Impact.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross confirmed that he is in talks with All Elite Wrestling to potentially join the company once his current WWE deal expires at the end of this month. Ross announced that he will no longer be working for WWE as his contract, which expires on March 29, will not be renewed on his request. Speaking to ESPN's Outside The Lines, Ross said that he opted to leave because they're not using him very much and he feels like he has some great years left. "I need to get out of the house. I need to get involved. I need to be around people," Ross added.. He explained that he has no issues with anyone there and that was the only reason he requested to leave. He feels that WWE, just like many TV productions, are looking for younger people to be on television and he's been around for a long time so he needed plan B, and plan B was to exit gracefully. "Vince McMahon and his family have been amazing to my family and in 2018, Vince took great care of me as he always has financially, but I had two bookings in 2018," Ross continued. He put over WWE and said that he had a lot of joy working there for the past 26 years, which "is an eternity in that world!" Speaking about his next move and possibly joining AEW, Ross said he doesn't know yet. "We're talking, we're talking.. I just haven't signed anything yet. My people and their people are doing their thing," he said. JR is expected to join the brand-new wrestling promotion and it wouldn't be surprising if he's heading up the booth for the Double or Nothing May pay-per-view.
During the CBS coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament Sunday, Wally Sczerbiak's appearance on Nitro in 1999 was shown and there was a clip of him being given a poster by Bill Goldberg, as well a clips of Gene Okerlund, Charles Barkley and there were name drops of Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash.
The Memphis Grizzlies had another pro wrestling night Saturday night built around Jerry Lawler. Lawler has had an ongoing feud with Buff Bagwell at the wrestling theme night games, with tonight being no different, with Buff bringing in rick and Scott Steiner to wrestle Jerry and a partner for the newly created tag team titles (Lawler is currently the Grizzlies Heavyweight Champion). During the commercial breaks they have promo’s. First w/ Lawler, then Buff and the Steiners. It’s all pretty generic wrestling promo fare. For the 3rd break they announce Rikishi as Lawler’s partner, who comes out and cuts a promo about teaming with Brian Lawler in the past and how he is going to be “Too Cool” with the King tonight in their tag match. Rikishi then holds up one of Brian’s GMS vests. It was a short, 5 minute basic match that ended with the King pinning Steiner. Notably Rikishi wrestled in a track suit and did not do the stink face spot: A little while later during the game is the Grizzly Dancers performance, after which Rikishi and the King come out and do the Too Cool dance break with them.
Bret "Hit Man" Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2019 together as The Hart Foundation, making Bret a two-time WWE Hall of Famer. The Hart Foundation was formed in 1985 and it was Bret who joined the other two as Jimmy Hart was already managing Jim Neidhart. It was Bret’s idea to form the tag team and was about to quit the company before he was eventually given what he wanted. Over the course of the years, Bret and Jim went on to have big feuds with The Brain Busters, Powers of Pain, Demolition, Strike Force, The British Bulldogs, and Power and Glory among others. The two went on to become one of the most successful tag teams in the history of professional wrestling, winning the WWF Tag Team titles twice, beating The British Bulldogs and Demolition. Bret and Jim split after WrestleMania 7 with Bret concentrating on his solo career. "Grit. Determination. Passion. That's what builds a foundation. Congratulations daddy & Bret Hart. You. Deserve. It," wrote Jim's daughter and WWE Superstar Natalya. Bret added, "On March 1985 in Brantford, Ontario, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart and I officially became the Hart Foundation. On April 6, 2019, we take our place in the WWE Hall of Fame. I wish Jim was still with us to celebrate this moment, but I know he’ll be on stage with me in spirit. To our fans around the world, thank you. See you in Brooklyn!"
